Best Choice for taller kids
February 10, 2014
The Britax Boulevard is a great choice for a high quality car seat. It has everything you need, including an easy to use height adjustment for when you child grows taller. It has one of the highest ranges for weight and height of any seat on the market, which is important because our kids are in the 90+percentile for height for their ages. The seat latches in to a car's rear seat's catches about as easily an any (which still takes a little work). The biggest challenge is securing the strap from the top/back of the seat to a solid point, when the seat is mounted in a rear facing position. This is primarily a problem due to our cars' lack of a dedicated connection point, rather than a Britax design flaw. The good news is this is only an issue during the relatively short time the seat is in a rear facing position (until your child qualifies for the seat to be mounted front facing). The Silver Birch is also easier to clean than some other finish options, due to its fabric choices. It is a little difficult to adjust the straps when buckling a child in the seat, and the chest pads (at least on our first one of these) tend to slip a little, so need to be adjusted almost every time. On occasion, a strap will also twist, requiring it to be straightened before a safe buckling can be made. Overall, a good value for a top-rated car seat.
We actually have three of these. One for mom's car, one for grammy's and one to trade between other family members who occasionally drive our boy around.
