Some parents love the idea of using their infant car seats as the “carrier” part of a stroller--which is a perfect way to move a sleeping baby from the car to the stroller without having to wake up or even come in contact with the baby. This is where frame strollers come into play with specific infant car seats designed to “plug and play” directly into the stroller frame and the car seat base (whichever the parent needs at the time).
Travel systems and frame strollers are not very different in their function, although travel systems are generally sold together, and the stroller part of the travel system may be a little larger/heavier than what you’d find in a frame stroller.
You can purchase a travel system as a complete package at one time, or you can choose to buy an infant car seat and frame stroller separately, which really helps parents to get a good feel for the right choices for their little ones. For example, if you live in the North and you are having your baby in late October, you may not actually have a significant need for a stroller until the winter weather warms up (especially if you are parents who work from home). In this instance, you can choose to wait to buy the stroller frame to match your infant car seat when the weather warms up.
Additionally, the car seat/strollers billed as stroller frames instead of travel systems tend to be lighter and easier to transport, generally speaking. This is a great way to “test out” a particular stroller combo using a lighter frame stroller (that is usually more affordable than travel system strollers) during your baby’s first months before investing in a stroller geared for years one through five.
We hand-select each model of frame stroller that we sell, and, as parents, look out for the best brands and their best strollers for our customers. We’ve been in the business for nearly 100 years, so we’re glad to leverage our experience and relationships with vendors to not only find the right strollers, but to provide the best pricing possible, as well.
