Much better than a playard for travel
October 22, 2012
We have made two long road trips with our baby (2500 miles each way), once when he was 2 months old and once at 11 months. The first time we used a playard, and it was such a hassle to carry it into motels each night and set it up. It was heavy and awkward to carry (especially up stairs), and a pain to set up/take down. When I saw the Baby Bjorn Travel Crib, while we were planning the second trip, I knew we should get one. It took a while to convince my husband that we should spend so much on yet another piece of baby gear, but it was great. The bag is big, but not nearly as long as the playard, and much lighter. It's much easier to set up as well. The only downside is that the sloped sides make it a little harder to pick up the baby or for him to pull up to a stand. He seemed comfy though.
Pros:Size, weight, ease of use, comfort
