The straps hurt my child, it digs into her thighs, they are always tangled, the buckle is so hard to unbuckle the child and my child always tells me she hates her car seat and it hurts. I would never purchase maxi cosi again

Had this for a little over two years. Works great fir infanta. My kid just turned 3 and it digs into her little thighs.

I received this car seat as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel, but I promise this review is not biased by that. I was very intrigued by this seat's claims to be the only seat I'll ever need to buy again. Since my twins are only 9 months old, we've obviously only used it rear-facing, so that remains to be seen. Here are some pros and cons I actually can give an opinion on...
Pros: so comfy! Love all the padding! Quick navigation quite in the manual makes it really easy to see when you can change modes of install, etc. My babies had only been in their infant carriers before this and they really liked the switch!
Cons: difficult install. Hard to see the recline indicator, and you have to remove the cover to install which is an annoying extra step, esp bc this seat is pretty bulky.
I think this seat is worth it if you have the patience to carefully install correctly...if that will frustrate you too much, I'd suggest choosing a different seat.

The first Magellan we received was defective. Customer service was great we were immediately sent a replacement however it was difficult to install and is difficult to tighten/loosen the chest straps. Chest straps will be loose while straps around legs are super tight. Extremely difficult to press red crotch button to release buckles. I have to ask my husband to unbuckle our son as I am not strong enough and even he still struggles with it. I just purchased a britax click tight for our other car and it is so much easier to use and is very securely installed with no movement at all. The police officer couldn't even get the Magellan to move less than 6 inches once installed and they are the professionals. So dissapointed considering the price point.

My wife and I bought the Magellan Max due to the totes ease of use magnetic chest clip and the level of comfort that it appeared to offer our daughter.
First cane installation rear-facing which I recommend never to do on a busy day. You need at least an hour for first time installation because 1. You must first try to secure seat with the cars seatbelt. Despite numerous attempts and doing all I could to get it to tighten enough to not move more than an inch, this was not possible. The seat belt method does not secure the car seat enough in both my wife's Nissan Altima and my Audi Q7. 2. Next, the clip method that comes with the car seat was the only method that secured the car seat enough that it did not move. I worry though because this is only up to 35lbs... after that what are we supposed to do?

Adjusting the car seat is relatively easy to recline froward and back, and raising the head rest. Super simple and easy. The biggest down side to this car seat is the straps. They never tighten enough and to get them to the tightening point takes all my strength and effort but even that is not enough. The straps seem to fold over and bunch up, get caught, and never really hold their shape. I worry that due to the loose fitting straps that this car seat is not safe for my child. Also, the magnetic clip can be tricky at times. I worry in an emergency would I be able to get my child unclipped fast enough. Recommend having a tool of sorts in the car (multi tool, knife, or scissors) just in case we are ever faced with a scenario.

Overall,
Installation without seat belt worries me due to weight limits of the included buckle system. Seat belt will never secure this facing forward or back due to design of car seat. Straps tightening/ loosening is a pain... Positives: easy to recline and adjust head rest. Comfy padding.
