Lives up to its reputation
February 18, 2012
I chose this car seat because of the consumer reports for safety, and because we use a Britax car seat for our son. We have been more than impressed with the quality of both seats. The little attention to details in its design really make it worth the price, such as its ease of use and installing. I also liked that this one is rated to hold the baby up to 30 lbs, which means that it can be used longer as a rear facing seat before it has to be upgraded. The only glitch was that it was missing the brackets that allow it to clip into the B-Agile stroller. When I called the Britax company there were no questions asked, they sent the parts with detailed instructions immediately at not cost to me, and they arrived at my door the next day. That kind of customer service is priceless.

Seems like a good investment so far...

We haven't had our baby yet, so we can't give it a full review.... But compared to the quality of similar products in our local baby stores, this was much sturdier, had a good deal more padding & protection measures, and was a great value. Though firm, it seems more comfortable to at least my hand's touch than many other car seats, and it has an infant adapter for premie's and newborns. The only thing that is a bit of a challenge... I have a smaller car, so it's pretty snug next to our other larger toddler booster seat... but again I think that is just my car. Guess time will tell if the new baby likes it as much as I do.
Pros
  • Seems Safe! Great price!
Cons
  • A little difficult to get buckled in, next to other car seat... but I think that is just because our car is smaller than others.

Yes, it's big, yes, it's heavy - but this is one awesome car seat! I can get the baby in a good snug fit every time. She is comfortable and routinely falls asleep in the car. The bonus to this seat is the wedge for teenie babies. When we bough this seat we didn't know we were going to have a 5lb baby, and the wedge made it a perfect snug fit, and she passed the NICU seat test with flying colors! (they have to monitor their oxygen levels for 3 hrs before they will be released from the hospital to go home.) I bought this car seat as a set with the stroller - and that I'm *not* so impressed with.
Pros
  • Easy to adjust straps with growing baby.
  • Wedge for little babies works great.
  • Base was easy to install.
Cons
  • The sun shade routinely falls off it's track - but easy enough to install again.

Excellent car seat

This is an excellent product. My baby fits snugly and seems very comfortable. Materials are very durable. I upgraded from a Graco car seat and don't regret the purchase. I got it for a lot less than I would at the local brick/mortar store and had it delivered very quickly. I would recommend Albee Baby.
Pros
  • Extremely easy to adjust. Durable materials. Very secure.
Cons
  • Its on the heavier side and contrary to advertisement does not fit in my Baby Jogger City Select double stroller. Its too wide for the. At Buy Buy Baby I was told it was a Britax issue because they did not inform Baby Jogger about the measurement changes in this car seat. But I make it fit.

Too big!

I'm so sad that this carseat didn't fit well in our '06 Honda Pilot. We tried to install it on the right side but the front seat would need to be all the way forward with no recline, which is not comfortable or practical. I had been so excited to have this seat because of the safety ratings. Other than the fit problem, it was fantastic. If you are going to purchase this seat, I suggest you purchase it from a retailer that doesn't charge a $25 restocking fee plus expensive shipping charges. This was a very expensive mistake.
