The UPPAbaby Aria V2 is an infant car seat for parents who want a lightweight answer. The carrier weighs just 6 pounds (without the canopy and insert), which is the big selling point.

The Aria V2 is a rear-facing infant car seat for babies from 4 to 30 pounds and up to 30 inches (whichever comes first). It includes the carrier, base, two-piece infant insert, and All-Weather FootCover. It attaches directly to UPPAbaby Vista and Cruz strollers, and it works with Minu and Ridge strollers with the correct adapters.

At Albee Baby, the UPPAbaby Aria collection currently includes the UPPAbaby Aria V2 Lightweight Infant Car Seat in Jake. It is a good fit for parents who want a lightweight infant seat, UPPAbaby stroller compatibility (read: travel system), and a base with installation indicators that remove some of the guesswork of installing the seat.

What Is the UPPAbaby Aria V2?

The UPPAbaby Aria V2 is a lightweight infant car seat built for the first year, or until your baby reaches the seat’s weight or height limit. It works rear-facing only, with a 4 to 30 pound child weight range and 30-inch height limit. Also, your child needs at least 1 inch between the top of their head and the top of the headrest structure.

The Aria V2 makes the most sense for families who carry the infant seat often. Adding a child to an already-heavy infant car seat adds up. Yes, you get more buff. But you're also more tired. Taking on apartment stairs, second cars, shopping trips, parking lots, quick errands, and more just gets so much harder with a heavy seat in your arms.

Why Parents Choose the UPPAbaby Aria V2

The carrier weight is the obvious reason. We've already talked about this--at 6 pounds without the canopy and insert, the Aria V2 is built for someone who doesn't want to be lugging around some heavy stuff.

The base is another major part of the story here, though. The Aria V2 base includes UPPAbaby’s SmartSecure system with a red-to-green indicator, lower anchor connectors, built-in lock-off, Anti-Rebound+ Panel, load leg, and level indicators. A properly installed car seat is the safer car seat.

The infant insert is useful for smaller babies. The two-piece insert includes a preemie cushion and back-positioning insert. The insert is for newborns starting at 4 pounds and goes up to about 4 months. The preemie cushion is used with the back positioning insert from 4 pounds to about 9 pounds, then the back positioning insert can continue alone until about 4 months.

The Aria V2 also has an extra-large UPF 50+ canopy with pop-out sunshade and ventilation, an All-Weather FootCover, Side-Impact Protection, and a no-rethread harness.

Installation: Base, Seat Belt or Travel Setup

The Aria V2 gives you a few installation paths. With the base, you can install using lower anchors or a vehicle seat belt. The base has visual indicators for tightness, angle, and load leg position. You can also install the carrier without the base using the vehicle seat belt.

Which UPPAbaby Strollers Work With Aria V2?

The Aria V2 attaches directly to UPPAbaby Vista and Cruz strollers. It also works with UPPAbaby Minu and Ridge strollers when you use the model-specific adapters. The direct Vista and/or Cruz connection is really nice to have in a travel system, and the Cruz and Vista are both award-winning, loved-by-parents strollers. If you already have a Vista or Cruz, the Aria V2 fits into that world seamlessly. It's soooo nice.

UPPAbaby Aria V2 vs. UPPAbaby Mesa

The Aria V2 is the better UPPAbaby infant car seat to look at if carrier weight is your main concern. The Aria V2 carrier weighs 6 pounds without the canopy and insert. The Mesa V2 comes in at 9.9 pounds, so the difference is easy to feel when you are carrying the seat often.

Choose Aria V2 if you want the lighter UPPAbaby infant seat and strong stroller compatibility. Choose Mesa if you prefer that seat’s feature set, fit, or feel and you do not mind the heavier carrier. Hint: they are both great seats.

There are a lot of great car seats, but there's only one perfect car seat for you. The question to ask is which one fits your car, your stroller, your baby, and your daily routine. Mesa or Aria? It's what fits your life best that matters.

What Parents Are Saying About the UPPAbaby Aria

  • “Super lightweight and easy to use. This car seat might not have all the fancy bells and whistles that other car seats do because of the weight, but it works perfectly and is great for my son. We noticed he didn’t cry as much when we switched over to this version from the Mesa.” - Sophie, Providence
  • “Upon unboxing I am very impressed. The car seat is not only beautiful, but incredibly lightweight and super easy to install. I’ll have three across, so I had to ensure that it would fit.” - Peyton S., Little Rock, AR
  • “Overall, I am loving the UPPAbaby ARIA! It’s extremely lightweight. The extended canopy has proven great for privacy and naps. My only complaint is that the crotch buckle falls back when not in use, so whenever I put the baby in, I have to hold it forward or dig it out from under him.” - Jordanna, Chamblee, GA

Cleaning and Care

The Aria V2 fabrics include the seat pad, infant inserts, buckle pads, shoulder pad, seat padding, SIP padding, harness pads, and buckle cover. These fabrics can be machine washed in warm water on a gentle cycle with mild detergent. Dry them flat and away from direct sunlight. Do not bleach, iron, or dry clean.

Then clean the harness webbing and canopy by spot cleaning with warm water and mild detergent, then let them air dry completely before use or storage. Clean plastic with warm water and mild detergent, then towel dry.

For the buckle and lower anchor connector hardware, the buckle should fasten with a click. If it does not, rinse it under warm running water.

Do not use detergents or lubricants.
