Bugaboo Stardust Playard

The Bugaboo Stardust is the playard you have always wanted. Hotel rooms. Grandparents’ houses. Living room naps. Weekend trips. Downstairs safe-spot-while-you-answer-the-door.

The Stardust opens in about one second and folds back down in about three seconds. The mattress stays in place, the bassinet zips in for newborn use, and the carry bag comes with it. You don’t need to build it from a pile of parts every time you use it.

At Albee Baby, our Bugaboo Stardust collection includes the Stardust Play Yard in Black and Taupe, plus fitted cotton sheets in single and 2-pack options. Choose the playard first. Add the sheets if you plan to use it for travel, naps, or regular overnight stays. Besides, you’ll want a backup sheet eventually (probably sooner than you think).

What Is the Bugaboo Stardust?

The Bugaboo Stardust is a travel crib and playard made for sleep, naps, and play away from the regular crib. It works at home, in a hotel room, at a relative’s house, or anywhere that has the room, to be honest. Some families like to set the Stardust up on the back porch in the warm summer months and some love to use it in the dining room while eating Thanksgiving dinner.

The main feature is the fold. The Stardust opens quickly, folds flat, and keeps the mattress built into the design (aka you don’t have to remove the mattress before folding it down).

The zip-in bassinet helps during the newborn stage because it keeps your baby higher in the playard. Once your child outgrows the bassinet stage, use the lower playard setup for sleep and play within the listed limits.

Why Parents Choose the Bugaboo Stardust

The Stardust is easy to use. A lot of playards technically fold--the fun begins when you have to remember which rail locks first, where the mattress straps go, and why one corner has decided to ruin your evening. The Stardust playard skips most of that nonsense.

It also travels well. The folded shape is slim, the carry bag is included, and the whole setup works for overnight stays, weekend trips, hotel rooms, and grandparents’ houses. It is also useful at home if you want a downstairs nap spot or a contained play space during the day.

The bassinet gives newborns a higher resting spot, which makes it easier to place your baby in and pick them up. The playard level gives older babies and toddlers more room once they are past the bassinet stage.

What Comes With the Bugaboo Stardust?

The Bugaboo Stardust Play Yard includes the main pieces you need for travel crib and playard use.

  • Carry bag: Helps pack and move the Stardust.
  • Mattress: Built into the Stardust design and used for both bassinet and lower playard modes.
  • Bassinet inlay: Zips into the playard for newborn use.
  • Base unit: The main Stardust playard frame.
  • Stability feet: Help support the Stardust when it is open and in use.

Sleep, Play and Safety Notes

Use the Stardust only when it is fully opened and the locking mechanisms are engaged. Before placing your child inside, check that the playard is fully set up and locked.

Use only the mattress sold with the Stardust. Do not add a second mattress. Do not add pillows, loose blankets, stuffed animals, extra padding, strings, cords, or anything your child could use as a foothold or that could create a suffocation or strangulation risk.

Use the lowest playard position once your child can sit, kneel, pull up, or starts getting mobile enough for the lower level. Stop using the playard once your child can climb out.

The Stardust playard can be used from birth to 2 years old, until your child reaches 35 inches or 33 pounds, whichever comes first. The bassinet inlay can be used from birth until 20 pounds, or until your baby begins pushing up on hands and knees, whichever comes first. The bassinet inlay is not a play space. Use the lower playard area for play.

  • “Super easy to use in folding up and unpacking. The mattress is comfortable and breathable.” – MeeMee, Sunshine Coast, Australia

Cleaning and Care

The Stardust itself is not machine washable. Wipe it clean with a damp cloth and keep the mattress and playard clean. Always check the fabric label before washing anything.

The fitted Stardust sheets help here. They give you a removable layer for naps, overnight use, and the normal baby mess that arrives with no warning and impressive timing.

Check the playard regularly. Make sure fasteners, Velcro, zippers, and locking points are secured the way Bugaboo instructs. If any part is broken, torn, or missing, do not use the playard.
