OXO Tot Baby Food Freezer Tray - Green

These trays have been extremely helpful in food prep for my infant daughter. I make "cubes" of different purees that can be thawed and added to yogurt, cereal, and smoothies. After making the purées, I freeze overnight in these trays and then remove and store the cubes in ziploc bags. The trays wash up beautifully with no staining of any sort.
That being said, a downside to these trays is that I find it difficult to twist them as you would with a normal ice cube tray to loosen the cubes. This is due to the sturdy plastic that they are constructed from. I've found that I need to pry the cubes a bit to loosen and remove them or allow them to thaw a bit prior to removal. In addition to these trays, I also own Oxo's No Spill Ice cube tray. I prefer the silicone lid on those to the sliding lid on these. The sliding lid tends to warp a bit in the freezer making it difficult to slide. In addition, the silicone lid on the No Spill can be used to smooth the surface of the purées and it seals tightly.
All in all, this is a useful product if you are looking to make your baby's food but with a few tweaks could be better!

I am no longer making baby food, but I tried the trays out to make ice and they work great! I wish I had these 2 years ago! I love that they have a top so you can stack them and the ice cubes come out easily. I would imagine the same would be true with baby food.

I am using ways to make ice cubes, as My "baby" is now 10 years old!

I wish we had these Oxo baby food freezer trays for our first born! We're big on making our own baby food from scratch, and we used to just use a regular ice cube tray, but those dollar-store trays left our baby food with a funky smell. These Oxo trays have a nifty lid that slides over the baby food, shielding it from freezer burn and weird smells. And plus, these trays are stackable, saving space in our packed freezer! We use these trays all the time with our infant daughter - they keep her food fresh and yummy!

Going to order a few more of these. Very well built and easy to use. Food portions release easily and the lid slides without any fuss.

Pros: Ice cubes do pop out more easily than with a standard rectangular cube, I guess because of the curved bottom. It's easy to push a single cube out at a time without having to turn the tray upside down. They just kind of slide out when you press on one side of them.

Cons: The lid feels unnecessary, and it's hard to slide open and closed. The lid is not air tight so it doesn't prevent liquid from spilling out before the contents are frozen, and it's not really necessary to avoid popping out more than one cube at a time since they easily push out with a little pressure to one side or the other (unless you insist on turning the tray upside down). My biggest pet peeve is that the lid is warped (came warped, was warped before even freezing) and that makes it look less than the quality I expect from OXO. Ice cubes seem smaller than standard trays as well.

This is a great freezer storage system for puréed baby food. I thinned some avocado for my son and froze it in the tray. They pop out of the cubes so easily! The lid isn't fully air tight so I wouldn't leave the food in the freezer for more than a couple of months, but it was more than enough to prevent the avocado from browning and taking on any funky odors. When the baby food stage is over I'll use the baby food freezer storage tray to freeze leftover chopped herbs in a bit of olive oil or water.

This baby food freezer tray is not only perfect for freezing baby food, but it also serves other purposes. I personally have used mine to freeze olive oil and herbs that I can just throw in a pan when I am ready to cook. You get two trays that have 14 spaces each. These definitely have a lot of space. It's also nice that you can stack the two trays in your freezer or when you are storing them. They are dishwasher safe as well which is always a plus. These trays may be sold to use for baby food, but you really could put anything you want in them which is why they are so great. The cubes are easy to pop out of the trays as well.

I don't have children, the reason I got this was for saving herbs, garlic and other pungent foods.
These are perfect if you have a surplus of ginger & garlic, just purée and freeze. I also always have a bunch of extra herbs in my garden so instead of wasting the basil, oregano, etc I purée and freeze them for the winter.
I knocked of one star because it was difficult to get everything out of the containers.

It makes separating homemade baby foods into perfect portions!!! Before leaving the house I'll put a portion in a bowl and by the time it's ready to go!!!

These are just OK. I feel like the construction is a bit lackluster compared to other OXO products, and the lids don't stay on well. We use them for freezing stock, herbs, or fruit puree and they work well for that.

This item doesn't just have to be just for baby food freezing. I've used it to make ice cubes and it works just as well. I like how the cover clicks shut and that it is easily stackable in the freezer. That way it won't take up a lot of space. When ready to take out, all you have to do is give it a gentle twist and the cubes will pop right now. I also have the Oxo silicone no spill ice cube tray and the ice cubes are pretty much the same size! The cover protects any dust or particles from entering the food too.

Trays are easy to freeze, remove food, and clean. Love that you can stack multiple at a time!

These trays make the baby food making process SO much easier and enjoyable! Storing and freezing food has become such a breeze after getting my hands on these trays. Simply cook and puree fruits/veggies, pour them into the trays, and place them in the freezer. Once frozen, easily pop them out of the trays by twisting the tray, place them all in a storage bag, and you're done! When I encountered cubes that were a little more stubborn to get out of the tray, I just ran the tray under some warm water and they popped out quickly after that. The trays themselves are easily washable and I was pleasantly surprised to find that they didn't stain even after freezing the dreaded carrot puree! I also LOVE that they come with a protective cover. I would give these trays 10 stars if I could. Making my own baby food not only gives me peace of mind because I get to know EXACTLY what's in the food that I'm feeding my baby but also because it saves me SO much money making my own vs purchasing pre-made baby food! Thank you OXO for making such an outstanding product once again!

Even though this item is marketed as a baby food freezer tray, it is actually more practical to make and store ice.

Oxo has a Good Grips No-Spill Ice Cube tray that is priced exactly the same as the Baby Food Freezer Tray. The difference is that the food freezer tray comes as a two pack which makes it a much better value.

Other great features regarding the food freezer tray is that it has these channels between each compartment. This makes refilling the tray with water significantly easier and faster than the ice cube tray. Water can flow between each compartment and the liquid will be evenly distributed throughout the tray.

Another big difference between the two tray is that the ice tray has a silicone cover and the food freezer tray has a strong plastic lid that allows the trays to be stacked. This is important if you are concern with space constraints.

Both trays makes the same size portions of ice and can allow the user to easily release one cube at a time. At the end of the day, it is my opinion that this tray is a better value and quality than any other tray in the market.

This baby food frozen food tray is just above average. The lid is a nice feature to have so that foreign things don't get into the tray, however the lid is a bit difficult to take on and off once its been in the freezer. It seems like its going to break every time i use it, however it has held up. The trays easily stackable. All the food cubes come out easily when the tray is twisted, but i wish that there was an easier way to just get out 1 or 2 cubes at a time. The food cubes themselves are a nice size. All parts are easy to wash in the dishwasher which is a must for all baby products.

These are great quality and a perfect size. I love the size and depth. The kids keep everything from spilling. They are perfect for bone broth, frozen fruit for smoothies or to give a teething baby. They fit in the baby mesh feeders too. The plastic is sturdy and doesn't flex like silicone does so it is easier to freeze. They have a great price point. I would recommend these to others.

I received this product, and was wholly unimpressed. The cover of they tear does not slide easily! I was expecting more from Ana OXO product. Instead of baby food, we ended up just using it as an ice tray, so it's nice that it has a cover. Our ice machine seems to jam up a lot, so this works nicely as a backup!

As a product reviewer, I selected the covered freezer trays. I don't have little children, but I've always wanted to try covered ice cube trays as I tend to spill the water by the time I get to Fridge. Work wonderfully. No spill, the curved bottom just makes cubes slide right out. Very pleased, would work great to freeze baby food, freeze, store covered, just pop out a few as needed. Impressed with ease of use. Just slides right out and like the shape for putting in beverages. 2 thumbs up.

This item is a great solution for those looking to meal prep for their babies. When we had baby number 1 we tried to use a regular ice tray to do this and put plastic wrap over it but inevitably either we spilled a ton or the food got freezer burn. This tray keeps the food in and fresh.

These freezer trays are super easy to use and the design is what makes them stand out. They stack neatly, which is great for freeing up freezer space and the lid perfectly covers one side if you need to remove one food cube at a time. They pop out very easily too. I know these are meant for baby food, but I see endless uses: cubes of fresh pesto or blender herbs for soup or pasta dishes, freezing tomato paste, etc.
