The infant insert can be used as necessary, to provide a snug fit for small babies. The low birth weight pillow can be used in the infant insert for even smaller babies, but should be removed once a snug fit can be achieved without it, at approximately 11 lbs.

The insert installed easily and fits perfectly in our Nuna Pipa. We were gifted an slightly used Pipa but the original owners can't locate their infant insert so I'm very glad I was able to find this insert replacement. This insert adds more cushion for our premie which makes him feels safe.

I cannot say enough about the product. Our daughter was born at just over 5lbs, but dropped below before going home, we got the Nuna Pipa knowing that she would be small, and also purchased this insert. Our daughter was unable to pass her car seat test without this insert and it saved us from having to take her home in a car bed, or having to spend extra time in the NICU.
