The train set was very easy to put together, putting in the battery for the train took some time but once it was in, worked very well on the tracks. My 3 year old son loved watching the train go around and around all by itself. My 5 year old and 8 year old daughter found themselves playing with the set as well for a while. One thing I would recommend is the wheel be battery operated as well. It would have also been great if a Sir Topham Hat figure was also included. There's only a picture of him on the station piece.

This is a nice train set for my son. The set itself it easy to put together, is well made, and the train is quiet as it goes around the track.

I received this product in exchange for my honest review. The item was packaged very appealing to my 2 younger children. The instructions/assembly were easy enough for my 7 year old to put the tracks together. However, unscrewing Thomas to install batteries was a bit challenging as even though the top portion was placed correctly and securely, the button would not engage to make Thomas go. We had to mess around with it a bit, and even sometimes after, Thomas would not go until we had to give the button a harder tap. Overall, the kids really enjoyed playing with it. They did wish that it included other accessories and another train. The wooden tracks and diecast Thomas were very well made but for what it retails, i think it should include a little bit more as well.

My son loves this toy! He can easily connect the track and it is very well made. His favorite part is the engine that runs on a battery. He likes to see how many other Thomas trains he can connect. Great product!!

I was a little disappointed that the train did not come with a battery but, I quickly added one after using a tiny screwdriver on the back of the train. Thomas was up and running over his course within 15 minutes. My son however, is a rough and tumble type and after a few days of inadvertently slamming the wooden pieces down on the hardwood floor, he broke the end off of one of them. I know that this is not a destruction proof set however, I was sad to see a piece break. The battery also went out very quickly. We still enjoyed playing with the set and will continue to do so. This is a good starter set for a child. This was only the 2nd set for my 3 year old. He was very excited to get Thomas to play with. The track is wooden and he was able to easily put it together. My son really liked that the train went around the track on its own. Thomas is heavier than the average train. My son likes the water wheel too. He tries to put stuff in it to spin around though. Overall my son likes this set. It does a decent job of keeping his attention.

Thomas has been a fixture in our home for years! As my baby grows, his interest in trains only grows right along with him. But it is always Thomas at the forefront of his train adventures. The beauty of the Thomas & Friends Wooden Steaming Around Sodor, is the smoothness of its tracks, the way he can work to put them together and figure them out for himself; but best of all It's All About That Bridge!!! It brings him hours of joy and play. It engages his imagination and continues to immerse him in the wholesome world where friends help one another even if at times they feel a little Cranky!

My son is three years old and it was perfect for his age. He loved it, he played with it for over an hour. The only thing he got frustrated with is when it kept falling off the track. Other then that he loved it.

I would actually rate this set 4.5 stars. I like that the train track is wooden. The set comes with a Thomas engine that is battery powered. You will need a small Phillips screwdriver to open the battery case. The screws are tiny and are my reason for giving the set 4.5 stars. I have three sons (10, 6. and 3), and I wanted the train for my three year old. He likes it very much. The older two thought the train moved too slowly (the train has a bit of weight to it). I think the speed is just right for a two or three year old. I don't think the track can be assembled by a three year old, but disassembly is quite easy for mine. This was our first Thomas & Friends set.

My son was very excited to receive this wooden railway set. As soon as I opened the box it only took a few minutes to set up and once Thomas started moving along the tracks he could not contain his excitement. He layed down level with the train set on the floor and watched Thomas's wheels go. Pros: Nice starter set with battery operated Thomas Build within minutes. Cons: None so far but will update review with any. Overall fun toy for any child thats a Thomas fan.

My kids (5,4,3 yrs old) love the motorized Thomas. They give it 5 stars. They have had a great time stacking their non motorized trains on the track and watching Thomas push and plow right through them. The details on the tracks and water wheel are cute and my children actually love it. Including the little duck crossing sign. Thomas is a good weight. To install the battery you have to take a small screw out. It's safely installed so the kids can't take it apart. He's pretty strong. I watched him push through 6 trains lined up on a track. He's also at a controlled speed going down hill so that he doesn't fall off the end. He also chugs along just fine on carpet with out any track at all. This adds more interest for my kids. He's not just stuck on his tracks he's able to go to any village they set up. The tracks are nice. Good weight and detail. We have only ever had generic tracks before so there is a noticeable difference in the quality of these. He also works and doesn't fall off of any of the generic tracks we own. The fact that his speed is consistent and controlled makes it so much more enjoyable. No frustrations because the train doesn't derail. I like the cute water wheel that spins. My kids won't stop playing with the Thomas since he had his battery installed. For the price I wish it included maybe another train but for the Thomas name there is a premium price so I get it. It's a huge hit. I only knocked off a star because I wanted it to be a bit longer track for the price. That and watch when picking up the Thomas and his wheels are still moving. He doesn't stop moving unless you push the button. I could see a younger toddler (under 18 months) getting pinched a bit. I really wanted to give it a 4 1/2 stars because it is a great little set! I was given this product for free for my honest opinion.

My boys love the fact that Thomas drives all by himself and that he can pull other trains up the hill. And the hill/bridge actually stays together no matter how rough they are with it. Which in my book is a huge win b/c I don't have to keep fixing it like I do with some of their tracks! Just an FYI.....Thomas is very heavy so if you have a little one that likes to throw you may want to hide this Thomas train for awhile and give them a wooden one...lol.

This is a great train set that my 3 year old and 4 year old spend hours playing with. The instructions are very easy for the kiddos to understand and they can easily put the tracks together. It is very durable and holds up to abuse that young ones can cause. Even my 19 month old enjoys playing with this set. Anything Thomas is a great hit in my family.

This set is the perfect introductory Thomas product! It allows for basic play of my 4 year old son but I can also turn on the train so my 2 year old can follow Thomas with her eyes. She's learning to time her grabs so when Thomas comes 'round she's ready to grab and hug him. My son has brought over some of his other trains and they can play together quite nicely.

Our 7 and 4 year old boys have been playing with this Thomas set for the last week. They love the motorized train and the ease of building and reshaping. Works great with our other Thomas sets as well. Hours of fun!

Just got this train. I love it. Came in a none spoiler box. Which is perfect since this is a gift for my daughter for her birthday. This train set has so much the kids love. her cousins love to play with this train set. I love how realistic it looks and what is included in the train set. The colors are really catchy for the kids too. Easy to assemble.

This is a cute simple track for little kids to play with. My boys are 1 and 3 years old and they enjoyed playing with it. The track was easy to set up and the mechanical Thomas was fun to watch run on the track. However, my 1 year old wants to push the mechanical Thomas on the floor and that can easily mess up the engine. So I just give a wooden Thoman for him to play and let my 3 years old play with the mechanical engine. The mechanical engine that comes with the set is strong enough to pull other engines that we have.

My son loved this set, played with it for hours. He really liked that his other Thomas trains connected for more fun!

I have two boys, ages 4 and 7. Once I told them I was receiving this Thomas toy at no cost as part of a play, rate and review program, they were anxiously awaiting its arrival! When it was delivered, they tore open the box and went straight to work assembling it. The instructions were easy enough for my boys to follow with no assistance from me. They love the wooden Thomas sets and were thrilled to add this one to their collection, as the tracks are compatible with other wooden tracked sets. They really like the tunnel bridge and moveable water wheel. Their only complaint was that the motorized Thomas didn't move very fast along the track, even with brand new batteries being used. I really appreciate the durability of the wooden Thomas sets and all the attention to detail that is paid when making the sets, such as the signs and track accessories. I also like the combination of the motorized trains with the wooden sets. I would highly recommend this product to any Thomas the Train fan!

I can not believe how many hours of play my son has had with this Thomas set. It can be put it together in under a minute, and he giddily plays with it for 30+ minutes! The little motorized train is a fun addition to the set, since he'll just watch it move around and around. We have a couple other Thomas trains that he happily adds to the motorized one. He spends a lot of time just experimenting with what happens when adding a train in front, or in back, or blocking the railway, etc. For how simple this set is, I couldn't be happier with how perfectly entertaining it is to my toddler (and his older sister!). This is definitely the best, most absorbing toy he has. Highly recommend a set like this, over the larger, more complicated ones or full "table" sets! Sometimes simplicity really is best

My son (4) was so exciting when he saw the outside of the box. He LOVES anything train. My oldest (10) put it together for him. I don't think my little guy could do it himself, at least not the first time. They did this while I hunted for a AA batteries and a screw driver. FYI, make sure you have those handle when your child opens it, battery not included. All of my kids were very excited to play with the track once it was put together. I wasn't happy that Thomas was so slow moving, but that is probably because I am used to the plastic trains and not the metal.

My son was excited to receive his train and track set. The set was easy to set up and once taken apart my 4 year old could easily put it back together again. The wooden tracks are great quality. We did initially put this on our carpet which isn't too plush and it worked great. The only issue is that the smaller signs don't stand as well on the carpet. The decoration/graphics on the buildings and signs are good quality and look just as good in person. Thomas himself is a nice quality heavy metal train. Thomas also runs on 1 battery which is nice so he can be set on the track and go. The push button on top to turn him on and off is also a nice feature for smaller hands. He is already asking for connecting sets to add on. I can see the set lasting a long time.

We are absolutely loving this new train set from Thomas & Friends. My son loves these harder to find characters and the set works with others we have. The instructions were even easy enough for a 3.5 year old to put together on his own! (He was very excited because he is so independent and loves blue prints!)
