Incredibly Hard to put in a battery

The instructions got lost, and I cannot find anywhere directions for changing the battery anywhere on the web. My fingers are raw from trying to unscrew the only screw. There must be a trick, but what is the trick? I'm frustrated.

Go Go Thomas!

If you have a Thomas the Train fan, you can't go wrong with this toy! Our son loves Thomas and adding the battery operated line of trains was so exciting for him. We were gifted a generic train table set and use these trains to make the table come to life. Our little guy turns them on and just watches them go! The only downside is we do have to replace the batteries often.
