room for improvement
December 1, 2019
The Ranier has lost its greatest draw, namely the 90lb harnessed weight limit, which is probably why they are discontinuing this model. Without this, there is little draw above the Radian aside from the 50lb rearfacing weight limit, though with a 44" rearfacing height limit, it seems unlikely this will be useful. Without the original high Superlatch weight limit and the high forward facing limit, Diono needs to step up their game and get with the times. Their seats are bulky, they need major adjustments and careful reading of the manual for every adjustment, and it's easy to lose the pieces if you're using for more than one child. If you need to deal with customer service, they're actually quite good, but be prepared for it to take months and many calls before you actually get a hold of someone and get anything taken care of.

Great purchase

Fairly easy to install (no more difficult than the 2 other brands I've installed). My daughter loves it. It is very tall, which is why we bought it, but I don't believe it's meant for cars. We have a 3rd row SUV, and from the middle seat of the middle row it touches both the driver and passenger seats. This might be an issue if you or your spouse are really tall, but my 6' 1" spouse still has enough leg room.

Best seat everr
October 14, 2018
I love this seat so much. My husband and I are so impressed with the quality! We have a Britax Marathon, (two kids under two) which is also a great convertible seat, but Diono Ranier blows it out the water. Aside from the safety ratings and high quality construction, we specifically love the way you tighten the belts. It ratchets, which I don’t remember reading about in the specs, but I think is worth mentioning. Getting the right fit with our Marathon is a back and forth game of tightening and loosening...but with the Rainier, it ratchets tighter and tighter and stops at the perfect spot. I swear it’s magic. Since I only have our Marathon to compare to, this is a huge help when getting kids in and out safely and efficiently EVERY TIME. Also to mention, we have a Honda CR-V. The Rainier fits snug (rear facing) behind the passenger seat. It would probably fit better in the center, but we have an infant in the other seat, so we prefer that they are separated. That being said, the passenger seat is set far up, however this is ok for our family for the time being until my toddler is forward facing (hopefully never lol) splurge the money on this seat, you won’t regret it.

My favorite seat!

I have used several brands & types of car seats but the Rainier is my favorite. I love the Shadow fabric because it's so much cooler. I also like how easy it is to get kids in & out of quickly.

Great carseat

I wish I had bought this instead of a convertible. We have two of those already for my older son, and I just ordered another one for my daughter to put in my car, as the convertible was getting a little uncomfortable for her. This car seat ranks very high for safety, and it will likely be the only seat you ever need, since it goes up to 120 lbs

Sturdy, sleek but heavy
March 30, 2018
I've purchased six or seven of these seats for myself or family and it's the only convertible car seat we've ever owned as a collective because of its strength, slim design, ease of putting child in, lifespan and allowable rear facing weight. But it is super heavy and hard to install the first time (I'm a pro at it now). It's also pricey.

Great car seat

Love this seat. My only negative comment is that they changed the chest clip (it is now like the Britax chest clip), which is fine, but I preferred the chest clip on the Raniers that I bought about 4 years ago.

Love the upgrades
February 22, 2018
I was initially bummed that the older version the Rainier was discontinued because I had wanted to get my second child the same seat as my first. Well I now wish I could sell the old one and buy a second new one because the updated Rainier is so nice. The materials for the seat cushions, inserts, harness straps and cushions, etc. is amazing. It feels so snug and secure buckling my baby into this seat, while being soft and cozy at the same time. Love it.

This car seat is amazing. The Rainier is definitely a solid car seat (super heavy) but I think this is part of the reason I like it so much, I know my boys are safe. It is easy for me to take my son in and out of the seat, but difficult for him because the lower strap is positioned fairly low that he can't easily reach it. The fabric is easy to clean & doesn't pill like our previous car seat fabric. We currently have our son forward facing in this seat, and not a complain from him or me. It was super easy to install. Overall I'm impressed!

I already fell in love with this car seat for its size (able to fit 3full car seats in the backseat!), comfort, and rear and forward-facing capacities (child can use this seat from newborn till they no longer need a seat!). This is the cheapest I have found online with very fast delivery. So pleased!
