Open-box items are products that have been returned (unused), or have had their packaging opened during their journey to our warehouse, or were opened by us for various reasons (for use in display models, for example). All of our open-box gear is thoroughly inspected to ensure it meets our high standards for safety and functionality. We make sure all parts are included and that nothing has been damaged in any way.

For our open-box gear items, you can expect that the model you’re looking at was a result of one of the following:

  • Customer Returns: Items returned unused due to a change of mind, not because of defects. These must be unused items to qualify for open-box gear.
  • Display Models: Products used for in-store demonstrations and display.
  • Social Media Gear: Products we opened for use in our videos for social media.
  • Packaging Damage: Boxes that were damaged in transit to our warehouse, but the product inside is untouched.

Each potential open-box item undergoes a thorough inspection to ensure it meets our high standards before being listed on albeebaby.com. The product may be shipped in the original packaging materials, and at times the box may seem damaged or tampered with. The product has been inspected and (rarely) may have slight aesthetic imperfections.

We can only offer a 1-year limited warranty and no returns on open-box baby gear, so we understand you are, in theory, taking somewhat of a risk yourself by choosing a more limited warranty compared to a new product. We believe that risk to be tremendously small, but it’s not 0%. Thus, we discount the product to compensate for that very-unlikely-to-happen risk (we want you to like us and tell your friends about us, after all).

Additionally, there is a chance your open-box item will have small blemishes that may be a result of our testing or maybe cosmetic damage that occurred inside of our warehouse and so on. Many times, you will receive an item with no cosmetic damage. If the damage was significant, we wouldn’t list it in our open-box section.
