Excellent and Safe Product
January 19, 2012
Britax is the ONLY carseat my grandchildren ride in. This is the 4th one I have purchased in the last 5 years. It is the True-Side impact protection that sold me on the brand as well as the recommendation of the safety coordinator at Children's Hospital in Milwaukee, WI.I did a lot of looking before my first grandson was born and am aware that Britax costs more, but how do you put a price on the safety of a baby, especially a newborn. My 3rd grandchild is due in a few weeks and he or she will be riding in safety in this carseat.
Pros
  • Ease if installation in car
  • Rebound bar
  • 5-point harness
  • Solid construction

#1 Safety pick!!
November 22, 2011
After comparing many car seats I found this one to be the safest. LOVE the price on Albee. The base is VERY bulky! Car seat is bigger and bulkier than most infant seats but safety was the key thing for me. Don't think I would buy this Britax seat again due to it being so big. My daughter was always sweaty when we took her out of it, I think it was because of the black fabric. We only used it for 3 months and then traded it for the Britax Advocate 70CS. If you are looking for safety this is your infant seat!!

It FITS fine in my VW Jetta, so it'll fit FINE in an SUV!!!

Not certain what the other reviewer is talking about... how is it possible this seat would not fit properly in an SUV? ANY SUV? I've had this seat in my 2004.5 VW Jetta for a year, and while yes... the passenger seat is more forward than we'd like, it is certainly doable! There is NO infant seat on the market that fit better, that is for sure. And frankly, for the safety it provides my infant, who cannot be in the center seat as she has an older brother... I'd much rather be occassionally tight in the front seat than sacrifice my child's safety. We also had the Britax Companion (Model prior to this one) which also had an anti-rebound bar, for my son. We loved that one just as much, perhaps a bit more as it's got an inflatable head-surround perfect for preemies. We were able to use that feature in this seat, however... which makes it utterly perfect. We've also installed this seat in medium SUV's for travel, with NO issue. It fits like a dream in any mid-sized or larger sedan... such as a Toyota Avalon, with a foot or so behind the all-the-way-back front seat. There is nothing safer on the market than Britax... don't compromise safety, even for comfort.
Pros
  • SAFETY features, Britax reliability and quality, ANTI-REBOUND BAR, locking clips
Cons
  • not a thing.

Too big for our full size SUV
October 19, 2009
I'm so sad that this carseat didn't fit well in our '06 Honda Pilot. We tried to install it on the right side but the front seat would need to be all the way forward with no recline, which is not comfortable or practical. I had been so excited to have this seat because of the safety ratings. Other than the fit problem, it was fantastic. If you are going to purchase this seat, I suggest you purchase it from a retailer that doesn't charge a $25 restocking fee plus expensive shipping charges. This was a very expensive mistake.
