Great Fit, Good Wings
July 3, 2009
The Evenflo Triumph arrived quickly across the country in original packaging. The seat has very deep wings that provide excellent head support during nap time and offering a great deal of head protection. The seat's straps are very easy to adjust at shoulder height. The crotch strap has two depths and it is easy to move it back or forth, but not as easy as the shoulder adjustment. The cup holder is flimsy and in marked opposition to the rest of the seat which is very well made. The seat cover is very comfortable and the fabric feels nice against exposed skin. Given its dark color I expected it to be hotter than it is. The straps easily stay out of the way when putting a little one in the seat, keeping hot metal from contacting delicate skin. It does not have a velcro holder, but the straps are more than long enough to hook outside the body of the seat.Installation was very easy. The latch strap clips went on quickly and then the strap tightened the seat down when I applied my best tug. The connectors were not alligator clips, but the Hook style. They took a few more seconds to install, but feel very secure. The seat is quite tall and in the middle of the back seat of my Chevy Trailblazer, it intrudes into the view from my rearview mirror. All in all it is a very sturdy, easy to use, comfortable seat. My daughter, who cried the moment she was placed in her infant seat, is quite happy for drives around town as well as naps in the Triumph seat. The fabric is much nicer than I expected and the chest clip and buckle work easily. The recline feature took a bit more muscle than I expected, but that may loosen up with use, and did not cause an impediment to use.In all, I am very pleased with the seat. It is sturdy, safe, and fits well in the vehicle. I had a Britax for the older kids, but it has expired and I think this seat is comparable to the Britax in quality and safety, but not cuteness factor. Brown just can't compete with cowmooflage, but for a $109 pricetag, I can live without cute prints.
