You get what you pay for.

This monitor serves it’s purpose inside our home. But, we cannot use it when on any of our porches or in the yard as the signal fails when that far from the base. The parent units also must be charged every single day. They die very quickly. If I had paid full price I wouldn’t be as pleased with it, but we got it at such a discount that I’m content.

Worst monitor I've owned!

First unit broke within the first week. Not holding the charge...connects for a second with the charger and then goes dead.Volume is pretty quiet. The only thing i Love about this one is the the option to talk back and soothe your baby or to talk to your spouse on the other unit.

We bought this monitor because consumer reports had it highly rated. It is working just fine right now. I have not tested the handheld [parent unit] range. I don't use the monitor-to-monitor communication much. I do like the concept behind the technology, but functionality needs to support it. That said, the monitor is not one I would recommend, due to the many design flaws. The power button and volume controls are right where your fingers grab the handheld receiver. The sensitivity of the monitor is low, unless you place the monitor very close to the crib (you would need to ensure that the cord does not come in reach of the crib for strangling concerns). Charging the device IS an issue. I read some of the other reviews before buying and thought others just werent charging the handheld long enough. It needs a good eight hour charge to last through the night. This can prove to be a hassle if you use the monitor to work outside during afternoon naps it wont last the night. If you plug in the monitor during the night there will be a point where the handheld will stop producing sound until the handheld is unplugged (another hassle). Ill provide another review in a couple months.

Communication for back stage
April 12, 2013
This product would have gotten 5 stars, as it was exactly what we needed, and allowed us to monitor directions given by our sound man, so that we could sync curtain raising and Power Point projection. The best part is that we could use our earphones to listen and avoid any distracting noises that would have interfered with the stage production. Unfortunately, the transmission sounds would randomly just stop sending leaving us unable to hear our sound man. On one occasion, the curtain didn't rise when it should have, and I had to go back to the stage side door to verbally tell him to raise the curtain. I don't know what causes the blips of "no sound" as our batteries were fully charged and the base unit was plugged into the wall outlet. Disappointing!
Pros
  • Clip on ability for carrying the "parent" units
  • Ability to use earphones
  • Long battery life
  • Ability to communicate with each other and the base station
  • Ability to adjust listening volume on parent units
Cons
  • Inconsistant transmission of sound
