Medela Personal Fit Breast Shield System 30MM

The amount of money i have spent to still sit back and find that expressing isn't how it should be. We need smaller breast shields yet it still hasn't happened. Not only are you letting down mothers your letting down our partners who would like to feed our babies!
Just disappointing i am l looking into another brand to help me.

I'm going to add to all the people saying you need to make smaller sizes. Upon purchasing the 21 mm (which did not come with the original pump, so thank you for eating my money), I found that my areola was STILL pulled into the shaft of the breast shield, and the part that was pulled in of my right nipple turned white--not good.

Um, some of these reviews were made quite a while ago. How long does it take to make a breast shield with a smaller diameter?

I will be purchasing a different brand of pump with my next child if this issue is not addressed.

Great set but even the smallest 21mm breast shield is too large and half the areola is sucked in. As other users we're looking forward to a size smaller I'm the near future!

Make SMALLER shields!!! I have the smallest and it is still too big!

These work but regrettably I can only use the 21mm. I could really use a 19mm but there are not any that small.

After several months of pumping with the standard 24 mm size shields, I realized they might be too big. The 21 mm ones actually fit and it is so much better - more comfortable as well as more efficient pumping. Wish I had gotten these months ago. The only issue is that the 21 mm shields aren't quite as easy to fit into the other parts of the pump - it's a tight fit. But still works fine.

Those shields are terrible. They leak and fall off way to often. In addition to that the tread on the shield that attaches to the bottle is not tight and leaks air. That gives me longer pumping time, and not properly extracted milk.

I have this one through insurance and is awesome

Medela has some great products and I was happy to see they offered this size but sadly, it is still too large for me. I gave it a good rating because it does what it's supposed to do but just not my size.

I bought these as a backup to leave at work and they do not seem to work. Not sure if the product is faulty or if they were defective.

I had to have emergency surgery after my sons birth, and due to my small nipples and groggy state, I had to use nipple shields to encourage breastfeeding in the first few weeks of my sons life. I soon developed De Quervain's tenosynovitis in both of my wrists, which made maneuvering my son into latch position extremely painful. Pumping became the only way that I could continue feeding my son breast milk, which is extremely important to me. My husband bought me the Medela Free Style, thinking it was the best of the best. It was a non refundable purchas for obvious reasons, so we put a lot of stock into your reputation. When I realized that the standard flanges didn't fit, I purchased the 21mm adapters at additional cost. They are still too big!

Unfortunately I continue to struggle, as this extremely expensive pump does not come with flanges that are small enough for a proper fit. As a consequence, I have suffered from plugged ducts on numerous occasions and pumping takes me a very long time. No other companies make flanges in a smaller size that are compatible with this model of pump, and I am not in a position to spend another $600 on a pump that has a flange size that will fit. Oddly enough, the nipple shields that I used in the beginning while breastfeeding, which are made by Medela, come in 20mm size, which fit perfectly.

Many women I talk to who have small nipples struggle with breastfeeding and rely on pumping to feed their infants. It is extremely disappointing that the company that makes the best pumps (and I admit the actual pump is AMAZING), does not make flanges that will work for a demographic that so heavily relies on their products - those of us with small nipples! Please, please, please, make smaller flanges for your pumps.

I want thank you for sending me this shield. It works great I was having some difficulty with my other shield. This one by far is great, it fits perfectly and it doesn't hurt at all and that is the nice part. The soft rim is so natural feeling that it fits your breast and as you are pumping it stays sealed as your pumping.

The smallest size (21mm) is still too big. It's certainly better than the 24mm, but I wish Medela had something smaller.

I understand that I may be a minority here, but I cant believe how big these are. They are supposed to fit around the tip of your nipple with just a little bit areola. I bought the smallest size they carry (21mm) and it's still pulling half my areola through the tube. Also they could be made of a softer silicone material instead of rock hard plastic. If you are hating the way your pump is pulling on your breast tissue, look into pumpin palms. They carry a much wider range of silicone shields that can be placed into the medela ones. I can't believe healthcare pushes breastfeeding onto moms and lactation consultants don't talk about breast pumps. Do they think most nursing moms don't work? Because in this economy most moms have to...

21mm is still too big for me. It sucks half my areola in. When are you going to make small breast shields?

You absolutely need to make smaller flange sizes. Start at 14 or 15 mm please! Not all breasts are between 21 and 32

Love the pump but with as big as this company is, MAKE SMALLER SHIELDS!

The pump works fine. However the collection containers leak and waste milk. I have very little milk production as it is so the leaking is a major concern for me. I don't know why these do not seal better. I'm very frustrated with how much milk I've lost to leaking around the seal where are the threads meet on the bottle. It's extremely frustrating that such an expensive unit doesn't come with better storage bottles.

I need a smaller size than 21! This is ruining my nipples and killing my milk supply

The 21mm breast shield does not fit into the connector piece very well because it is so much thicker and shorter than the 24 and 27 shields that come standard with the pump. Twice while pumping they came undone causing me to spill milk all over myself. Also, despite the 21mm diameter being the correct size and resulting in a more comfortable feel for my nipple the cup portion that rests on the breast is much smaller than the larger breast shields which means it doesn't provide enough coverage/support for holding the bottles up when using the medela hands free pumping bra. They actually now pinch my breast because they just don't have enough of the shield in contact with the breast to distribute the weight of the bottles being held up by the shields and the bra. I do not understand why they were not designed using the same specs as the other shields in order to ensure the same quality performance. Considering how expensive a single pair is, I was expecting the same quality product as the standard shields that come with the product. I will be trying out the 21mm inserts next because I really do need a smaller size but based on their reviews I am concerned about their effectiveness as well.

I really need smaller size shields than 21mm. Currently I am using size 21mm n still it won't feel right. I really wish thy had smaller one.

I bought this today, because I left my parts at home, and I work over an hour away. So I went to the nearest store to get parts. I made sure they are compatible with my pump in style advanced and they are. But unfortunately when I took them out of the box one of the valve is broken, which I can't return to the store. So now I'm stuck at work pumping one side at a time.

I purchased the 21mm, but I really need a smaller size. I do find that the neck of the 21mm is much shorter than the 24mm - it doesn't cause any problems for me, but I'm sure it would for some people. I just wish that Medela made 19mm! I'm contemplating getting non-medela shields from Amazon as they carry 19mm.

It is very inconvenient when and if the bottle gets knocked over or falls because the cap part is NOT air tight. I've lost so much with this! Its horrible. I have these and the ones that originally came with my pump and they are both the same. IT LEAKS! I am so dissatisfied. I do not want to buy a new pump because a new version has been created. Medela needs to figure our a solution for those existing products.

I would like to start off saying I love the Medela Pump In Style and manual pump. While I'm glad to have the option to size down (even though it's still too large) I do hope this attachment gets a redesign. They are far shorter than the other shields and my nipple gets sucked almost all the way to the end of it and causes lasting pain. Please start making them longer just like the others. I did too almost lose milk when I pulled at the nursing bra for removal and the flange detached from the bottle but I was lucky enough not
to spill. At this point I woneed if I would have been better off buying the aftermarket flange

These replacement parts cannot be used with the hands-free bra. You must purchase the parts that allow the shield to separate (shields + connectors - not this all in one).

I'm preparing for having my son and I have all of the Medela shields available to purchase. The smallest one is still going to suck my areolas halfway down the tube of the flange. How am I supposed to pump if the pump is going to eat me?! You guys have got to get on the ball and make smaller flanges. They need to start at 15mm maybe smaller and go up from there. Until you offer official Medela shields in small enough sizes I'm going to be forced to get the unofficial smaller flanges that a different company offers and are sold on a major hub site. I'm worried about how good they will be because they aren't a name that I know and trust but you guys have dropped the ball for breastfeeding mothers!

The 24 size works great for me! I use the Medela freestyle and love it.

For Gods sake. You have to help us, moms with small nipples because we are struggling. I have a pump but mostly hand expressing. Please don't write your "we are taking into consideration for future..." Tell us exactly when you going to have smaller size shields and is there a different company that makes shields that would fit your pump!

Pump works well but I can't pump comfortably because medela does not offer flanges smaller then 21mm which is to large

With literally every review for this product stating it is too large, I am shocked that there are still not smaller versions available. I'm about to have my second child and had a lot of problems with my pump last time around. After the 21 mm shields failed, I ordered smaller shields through a third-party vendor in 19 mm and they were still too big. There is obviously a market for smaller shields, why aren't you taking advantage of this? If you were to offer a 19 mm, 17 mm, and even smaller, there would be a lot of grateful women out there including myself. It is worth noting that most women I assume are like myself and have no idea that their nipples are unusually small until they run into issues trying to breast pump.

I wish this product came in multiple sizes like the nipple shields. I've been using this product for a couple months now and I'd say my only issue is that they don't come in different sizes. The product seems to be geared toward women who are probably 24mm. For me, it's too big and leaves my nipples engoreged and extremely tender after pumping. I have to wait generally 10 mins until I can put back on my bra without pain and it's typically time I don't have.

I recently purchased a size 21 mm shield and it is still to big. Medela is such a large company and I can't believe smaller shield sizes have not yet been made avaialbe after so many moms have addressed this same issue. Please do something about this to help the moms who are using your pumps and are stuggling!!

Bought 21mm as my nipples ripped for the 24mm. The 21mm breast shield was still too big and pulled my areolas. Are there any size smaller than 21mm? And the plastic is way too thick for the attachment.

I bought 2 of these as spare parts for my pump and was so excited when they came in. The first thing my husband said when looking at them is "how will you get them through your bra to hold them in place". I guess I don't understand the use for these since they don't come apart to be used with something to hold them in place. Maybe I'm missing something but will return for individual pieces.

Finally the proper fit shield. Significantly increased my pumping efficiency

I was excited to get these thinking that they would work much better but I was disappointed. They still seem too big and it's uncomfortable to use my pumps. I have the automatic and manual ones and feel like I've wasted money.

This helped me pump and it was less painful than with the standard size breast shields that come with the pump.

Was ok worked same as other one. breast pump not stimulating me to make more milk. Pumping every 2 to 4 hours and only get splatters to 1/2 oz at most.

I just wanted to write this to reiterate the need for smaller shields! It's a real thing! I've tried multiple off brand shields but none of which fit the Freestyle and it's so frustrating! I think this problem is a LOT more prominent than realized... please, please, please make smaller shields asap! I would love to continue using my Medela pump but clearly that's not going to happen until smaller shields are offered
