didn't live up to my expectations

Overall, Maclaren makes great strollers, particularly excellent for public transportation and storage. The fold is generally smooth and easy and the strollers are easy to push.Based on this knowledge, I expected more from the xlr. I loved the idea of an extendable canopy to block the sun, but find that the canopy falls back to the almost unextended position as I walk (the vibrations from the sidewalk shake it back partly) and I have to keep pushing it forward to block the sun. The pockets on the back of the canopy are an annoyance as they literally sit on the baby's head when filled only slightly (keys, cell...) when the canopy is extended. The fold is just not as great as the lower end models are. I have to press harder on the side pedal to be sure that I have released the lock. It's a nuisance to have to work hard to release a lock each time. The weight: fairly heavy. Now the good things:the handlebars extend, which is cool and useful, especially when attaching a buggy board on the back for an older child. Also useful for taller people.Extendable leg rest: I love this as my baby lays flat and it makes the surface like a bed.The padding: well made. soft and well cushioned. nice to have the option to flip colors/fabrics.rain cover: sounds silly to like this, but it comes with a really compact one, that can be kept in the basket without interfering with space for storage. Really useful, when unsure if to expect rain or not, to be able to store it without worrying.Underseat basket: most would say this is a negative, as space seems minimal and it seems difficult to access, however, it can be easily accessed from the front, and can hold more than it seems. I've put jackets and blankets below.
