Learning Resources Teaching Cash Register

I was looking forward to my grandkids getting to play with this for a long time because they love playing store. I was disappointed that I got the model that did not last and even with new batteries there seemsto be a short in it somewhere. I'd like to know if the company is willing to discuss this with me. I'd appreciate it.

My son received this years ago and it has always been a favorite! We would play "grocery store" w/ his toy shopping cart & the food in our kitchen! Kids who come by our house love it, too. It has lasted many years!

Phenomenal! My girls love it. My wife and I home school our girls. This is helpful with money and counting. Our girls are 4 and 5 years old.

This toy is poorly made & not usable due to the extremely poor construction and was obviously not tested before it was released. We don't even use it. Big waste of money!!
The only usable part is the pretend money.

This cash register gas stood the test of time. Older version without scale, etc. My nephew received it for a gift as a young child, he is 28 now. My children as well as Grandchildren have played and played with it. Never replaced batteries or had issues. The bell does not quite "ding" when drawer opens, that is all. Our kids were taught to take care of toys so we still have some of the pretend coins, no bills though. My Navy son recently bought cookies at a Girl Scout booth which was using one as their cash drawer !

The product is very useful in teaching my child to make change.

Been wanting one of these since of friend of mine got one for her kids. It's awesome! Keeps kids entertained for long periods of time playing store or just for learning money. I have a granddaughter that' s 4 and daughter that's 7 that would go nuts over this.

Very disappointed.

We got this for our kids for our two kids, and the drawer broke during the first use. They cannot play any games on it now unless one of us manually holds the drawer closed.it would be great to get a replacement.

My kids and I really enjoy this cash register. Sometimes it gets tricky on which buttons to press but we are still learning. We haven't tried all of the math levels but when we did try 1 we liked it.

Awesome resource for toddlers through third grade! Learning a variety of things- counting, sorting, exchange of money-it's great!

This was my 8 year old granddaughters favorite Christmas gift. It has several learning games. She usually uses it to play store or ice cream shop. It has a credit card and coupon. I bought it because she was struggling in math when she was learning about money at school. Now she is very good at identifying each coin and knowing it's worth which is mainly due to how realistic looking the play money is. There is replacement money sold for when or if you need more in the future. The register is very durable. Very much worth the money. I had to contact customer service about an issue and they were very quick to respond and went above and beyond to make sure I was satisfied. Great product and great company!

It is a Christmas present, but am sure it is great! :)

All 6 grandkids have loved this cash register to play store! We have had it now for probably 7 years. They had a blast. Have to confess, none of them used it for the special educational features but store store store! Just wanted to weigh in. Am going to contact customer service because the coupon card now only produces a beep, and not the vocal "savings" amt. Yet the credit card does do the vocal. Maybe they can suggest something. Yes, pricey toy but it's been played with, dropped, jammed with coins...and it is still working great!!

We have so much fun with this cash register! It is so realistic and the counting games are perfect!

This was a gift to our daughter that we were sure would add to her imaginative play. It has been, by far the most favorite Christmas gift. She engages everyone and up to this point has been struggling to comprehend the differences between the coins. I look forward to to her not only understanding the values but also the costs of items. So far it's just been play time. She just turned 4 yrs old.

Although the toy is supplied with replicas of Canadian currency for sale in Canada, the coin slot is too small for the replica "loonie" (C$1.00) and "toonie" (C$2.00) coins.

I have tried it and I think it is a really good value for the money. It is a XMAS gift so my granddaughter hasnt put her stamp of approval on it yet.

I bought this for my son to use with his grocery stand. It has a button you can slide the items over and prices will come up, lots of educational games you can play, a calculator, and a coupon and credit card you can slide in the card reader. The money that's comes with it seems durable enough. It's a great quality item compared to other flimsy registers I was looking at. The only slight issue we've had is that when you push the button to open the drawer it pops open with such force the money comes flying out. I would still buy this over other like products.

Great cash register except that it comes with one coupon card and one credit card. You cannot buy replacement cards or use any other type of card to make it work. My kids lost the credit card and now the toy is not functional.

This was a Christmas gift for my 2 and 5 year old Grandchildren, who were thrilled to add it to their play kitchen area. It has many great features like a coin teaching program, a scanner that audibly gives an item's price, realistic plastic coins and dollar bills, and a user friendly design. I will definitely be recommending this to my friends for their Grandkids!!

Item replaced promptly but 2nd one does not work either.

The drawer opens so forcefully that all of the coins come flying out.
This is an awesome toy that I enjoy playing with as well as the children do.

A constant electronic problem requires pressing the yellow coin bank cover until hearing a click. This is frustrating for children playing with it. When it happens the display shows "CB Open" and child is not able to do any electronic math until it is reset. We gave this as a gift to our grandsons and it is disappointing that it does not work correctly.

I was concerned because some of the reviews I read mentioned a problem with a "CB Open" -- and then nothing works on the cash register. Why pay for a register with all the extra's that make it realistic AND have learning games if it won't work? But I took a chance! We've only been using it for one week, but, honestly, the CB Open thing started from the first time we turned it on! Once I realized that CB was coin bank and not cash box (ie: drawer) -- I showed my 6 year old developmentally delayed son that you have to push that yellow 'door' where the coins go until it clicks - and then the register works. Now, no problem!

He's already - without any urging from me - very interested in getting the coins in - and even playing the game and getting the correct coin in!

He's also getting more and more into pretend/imaginative play and I am looking forward to lots of shopping trips in my future, buying things from his stores!

He LOVES that it has a credit card and a coupon card -- so REAL, just like when we go to the grocery store!

We bought this cash register for our 5-year old son. We looked at other toy registers and this one seemed to have the most functions, including a scanner, credit card swiper, and scale. I admit I was apprehensive about the price at first. However, after our son opened it, the value was clear. The register is well constructed, easy to use, and offers tremendous value. Our son got some other fun toys this year, but this one has captivated his attention. He and his 2-year old brother battle over who gets the register. Highly recommend.

I purchased this for my soon to be 5 yr old daughter for christmas last year and she loves it! Her and her cousin play with it often. Unfortunately, a few days ago it broke same error as all the other negative reviews CB open. Although the reviews say not to bother troubleshooting I did. NO LUCK ! Unfortunately the warranty is unknown at this time. However, I have a ticket open with customer service if they warrant it for a year or more and/or replace it then I would recommend it, but at this time if after less than a year it's garbage then I am going to say don't buy. I will update my review if I get a positive response from customer service. After great customer service is what sells.

I have this cash register in my classroom and my students love it! They have dropped it multiple times and it still is working! The reset button is my friend. Also, I just called because I needed more credit card pieces since we lost them and they are sending me some! Great product.

This product is great for the purpose for which it was developed, however there is a bug/error in the design that needs to be addressed ASAP. Within 10 minutes of my child playing and interacting with this cash register, the "CB Open" error appeared and my child was unable to continue playing with this until I corrected the error. 10 minutes! I was disappointed by this. Please address this malfunction as it is a definite detractor.

My daughter received this as a gift for her 4th birthday. We opened it and put the batteries in. We immediately received an error "drawer open." Even if the drawer is closed, the error remains and none of the other buttons will work. The reset button did not fix the problem. I emailed customer service 2 days ago and am still waiting for a response. I am really hoping to hear something soon or will be very disappointed.

I bought this while on vacation as a birthday present for my now 5 year old. She loves it, but now that we are home we've discovered that the cash drawer won't open. Which is a pretty big flaw for a toy cash register. We've tried the basic trouble-shooting steps. (Reset button, new batteries). It's Sunday morning now, and no one's home at LearningResouces.com. I'll call them tomorrow and follow up with how helpful they are.

My son received this as a gift for his 3rd birthday and loves playing with it. It's a well made product and really makes learning fun. But what makes it even better is Learning Resources customer service! During a playdate, somehow the credit card and coupon card got lost. I contacted customer service to see if there was a way I could get replacement cards - they responded quickly and said they were sending it out. They sent an entire new register! Way above and beyond. My little boy was thrilled to have the cards back. I will definitely be purchasing from Learning Resources again.

DO NOT BUY THIS!!!! I have found DOZENS and DOZENS of reviews saying the same thing: after hours or weeks, the cash register malfunctions and reads "cb open" NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO. No, pushing down on the yellow coin bank cover does not fix the problem. Changing the batteries does not fix the problem. It happened to us and we CANNOT make it work. That's $50 down the toilet!!

This is one of a handful of toys we have that gets played with almost daily. I have a 4yo boy and a 3yo girl and they've both thoroughly enjoyed this toy for over a year. We had the simpler model pretend play calculator cash register but donated to my son's preschool when we got this register. The kids liked the old one, but they love this one! Sometimes they incorporate it in grocery store play, other times they use it for a vet/dr office and I believe it's been present at a toy store play scenario as well. Often times they play with it by itself. They've enjoyed learning the names of the coins and putting them in the coin slot. My daughter often robs the register of all it's money and incorporates the money in various real-world play situations. Anytime we have a play date, the kiddos automatically want to check this toy out.

One of my favorite things associated with this toy is an amazing customer service experience I had. My kids are tough on toys, really tough. They somehow managed to lose the part of the scale that the food is weighed on. I emailed the customer service department to see if this part was replaceable and received a cheery response email letting me know that they had several extra of this particular part and I could expect to find it in my mailbox soon free of charge! They are a great company and experiences like that are why we have so many of their toys!

Upgrade of product used at Development Center

This was a gift for my four year old granddaughter, and she loved it. The scanner is fun and there are so many features that promote the knowledge of money. This was a great buy.

I purchased this cash register for my son's 5th birthday with the hopes of encouraging continued pretend play with his sister. Well on the day of his birthday and the opening of the cash register, both kids were excited. However, 10 to 15 minutes into playing with it (properly, I may add), it stopped working. I tried the reset button multiple times and it worked twice. Then after that, nothing would get the register to work. I even took the batteries out to no avail. The most it would do is beep every time a key was struck and open the cash drawer. Nothing 'registered' on the display screen and it wouldn't even shut off. I was very disappointed, to say the least. Of course, the kids were just as disappointed in that this birthday present got 15 minutes of playtime before it stopped functioning. I'm sure it would have been a great play and learning tool, but not for us.

I have bought 2 of these for my 7 and 4 year old kids. The first one never worked properly. When I put the batteries in, the display read "CB open" - I could not reset it to work as instructed, so I exchanged it at the store. Now 2 weeks later - with the 2nd one, the screen says "CB open". My kids are not rough on the toy. My kids play with our ipad and that works fine. They play with their leapster, which has survived 2 years. I play with them and I watch them play. The toy is in great physical shape.

I followed the instructions and I can't get any other display but "CB open". We have had it for 2 WEEKS! This cash register is not durable! It may not be designed properly, certainly not as a toy for children.

I bought this cash register for my son's 4th birthday and I think it's the absolute BEST toy I ever bought him. It's a toy that's educational and fun! My husband and I played with it for an hour the night before his birthday.

I bought this product as a toy to keep at my house for the grandkids - that was 8+ years ago!! It still works perfectly and is the favorite toy of my grandkids (now 10 years - 2 years). It's been used as the cash register for many pretend businesses (grocery store, book store, costume etc.), as a math learning tool, a money learning tool, money recognition tool and is always fun! Oh my goodness this was loved by my 2 year old, 5 year old and 9 year old with a little jealousy by my 10 year old niece! They played store, they counted who had more money, they pretended with the credit card. The possiblities were endless and the cash register was appropriate for all of their age ranges! Thank you for such a great pretend and learning toy!

I did quite a bit of research to find what I thought was the best teaching cash register on the market and found this. However, it is teaching my son the wrong coins. It doesn't recognize quarters and calls them nickels. Major flaw in the product!

This was my first Learning resources product and I had been eyeing this for a few months for my 2 year old. He is really into numbers and math and enjoys anything that displays numbers or looks like a calculator. I was very pleased when he received this as a late christmas gift yesterday from his best friend's family. We brought it home and both opened it together, he was immediately enthralled with it, but after a few moments we noticed the register display kept showing "CB Open" We reset the machine, made sure the drawer as well as the coin bank were properly clicked and closed. We even took the battery out, replaced it and no matter what we did the same thing displays on the register screen. This does not deter my son from putting the coins in and pushing the number buttons, but we requested this toy for the multitude of features it would have, so it seems like a waste to have it used at what I would consider a 20% capacity without the features it should have thanks to the display.

Unfortunately the seller I purchased it from has run out of stock of this merchandise so I've written to Learning Resources directly to see if they will offer an exchange or a fix. We'll see what happens. I certainly hope for the best. My end goal is to get one that works as I see how much my son already loves it at less then 3/4 of the features.... We look forward to enjoying it fully soon!

This is a great toy for learning to count money. My little 2 year old grandson is allowed to play with supervision. He loves it!

My friend got this for my 6th birthday and i have used it everyday since, i am now 15 and it still helps me. Sometimes my friends come round just to use it!

I purchased two of these registers knowing both my grandchildren would love them. One as a birthday gift the other as a Christmas gift. The birthday gift was opened last week only to find the scale was broken. Since the first was broken I checked the Christmas gift to be sure it was not broken as well. This one has a defective cash drawer. The register will not shut off because the drawer does not close properly.
I am greatly disappointed because it broke my grandson's heart that I needed to take the register home and try to return it!

This toy is a dream toy to my 4 year old daughter. As soon as she saw it, she knew exactly what to do with it. Initially she liked tinkering with the money and the keys. Now that she is older and learning math, she really likes figuring out what addition is and subtraction is. It is a toy that will definitely last and can be used as a pretend toy as well as a teaching toy. These are some of the best toys to have that won't get tossed to the bottom of the toy box. Well worth the price.
