Does the job, not perfect

Easy to install. However, if you have a curious (and strong) toddler, he/she can push on the sliding door and eventually knock it down. It does serve its purpose, even for a little while...

Sliding closet door lock
January 30, 2014
This item was easy to install, it took about 30 seconds. Then you wait 24 hours to start using it. It worked pretty well for about a week but now it keeps popping off and the adhesive no longer sticks. The lock set was a 2 pack so I'm already on the second one. If they sticked better- maybe something like a command strip that would be more practical.
Pros
  • Easy to install and inexpensive
Cons
  • Adhesive doesn't stick and hold for very long. They work better for occasional use.

They don't work
January 26, 2014
While I love the premise. These just don't stick to the doors. I have tried repeatedly, but can't get them to stay in place with just minimal pressure
Pros
  • Good design
Cons
  • Doesn't stick

not a good product

I put it on the closet just like the directions said to my toddler tried to open the doors and the piece feel of the door with in 10 minuets of putting it on.
Pros
  • If it worked it would help keep toddlers out of closets.
Cons
  • Does to not stick.

Just what I needed!!
August 11, 2013
This safety lock was exactly what I needed for my TV stand that has sliding doors. My son kept sliding me and I was nervous about pinched fingers and fingers in the DVD/DVD players. This is perfect and effective.
Pros
  • Super easy install
Best Uses
  • Sliding doors
Cons
  • Within a day my son figured out that the wings need to be pressed down... He hasn't figured the rest out though. He's 11 months old.

We LOVE these!
March 27, 2013
I purchased these about a month ago for the three sliding closet doors in our three bedrooms. Based on reviews I saw on other sites, I was leery to use the adhesives that came with the product. I read that they fell off the closets and often took paint or other surfaces with them. I opted to use command strips to adhere them instead--two of the larger command strips per lock, just trimmed a little bit off the length. Did it work? YES! These locks work brilliantly! The product is a pretty simple and nifty design and it's not an eye sore on our white close doors; it blends in nicely. I installed all three in under 5 minutes and I love that my 18 month old can no longer open the closet doors. I'm able to store his fan and humidifier and other things we don't want him playing with during the day and I know those items are secure and he is safe. If you have younger kids, I recommend placing these at YOUR chest level. For some reason, I installed the first one way up high, higher than my little guy could ever reach even standing on something and it was not convenient when I've got stuff to put away. The great thing about using Command strips is I took the lock off and repositioned it lower in just a couple seconds and with no damage to door. You will probably need two hands to open the closet once they are installed. One to hold the butterfly wings flat and the other to slide the closet door...unless you do what I did and put a velcro Command strip (the ones for hanging pictures) at foot level along the bottom of the closet door. Now I can hold the wings open with my right hand and use one sock on the velcro strip down low to slide the closet door open with my foot. Funny, I know, but when our second one comes along, I'll need one hand to hold the wee one. :) I'm an organization nut and this gave me our closets back. I highly recommend. You can't beat a couple bucks for peace of mind!
Pros
  • Great value, works well, super fast and easy install
Cons
  • May require purchasing different adhesives but Command strips are inexpensive and worth it since they won't damage your doors.

This is a great product! It's easy to install, and it keeps my 2.5 year old out of her closet (during nap-time). Best $4.95 I've ever spent!!!
