Description
Made of durable, lightweight, and breathable fabric, the ERGO Baby Performance Carrier is designed for all active moms and dads. It features a high-performance polyester exterior, ideal for outdoor activities in all climates; a breathable mesh lining, keeping babies and parents cooler and more comfortable; and a cooling panel for extra wicking. The attached sleeping hood stores easily in zippered pocket. This stylish, streamlined 3-in-1 design offers a smooth, supportive fit for parents and babies of most sizes, and can be used to carry babies from newborn to toddler on the back, front, and hip positions. The ergonomic design of the Performance line ensures that your baby is in the correct sitting position to encourage proper hip, pelvis and spine growth. It does this by distributing most of the baby's weight between the hips and thighs. The design also considers the health and comfort of parents. The carrier balances the baby's weight to the parents' hips and shoulders, reducing physical stress.

Great carrier, easy to use and light
May 3, 2019
We have bought this carrier 8 months ago and we use it every day since that day.
This carrier is easy to use, you don't need anyone to help you.
Easy and comfortable to use for long walk/hike too. Perfect when the weather is warm, the fabric is breathable.
Would buy it again without any doubt.

My favorite carrier.

I love this carrier! It is popular within the local baby wearing community. It is lightweight and not as hot as other carriers. It adjusts well between users and is easy to get off and on. The panel is a little bit taller than on other carriers, which works well for my long baby, who likes to try to lean back when being worn. The attached hood folds up so compactly, too.

Just what we needed
June 16, 2016
This carrier is perfect. My husband is 5'10 and I'm 5' and we can both comfortably carry our 1 year old son (32" tall and 30 lbs) in it without any discomfort. I was worried it wouldn't fit me since I'm petite. The belt is at its tightest when I use it so it's just perfect. I plan to get another since we have twin sons but I just purchased one to see if we liked it. I just wished we had purchased it earlier so we could have used it when they were smaller. We had the bjorn and an infantino which was very uncomfortable to use for longer periods since our boys are big in size. Checked around and Albee had best price.
Pros
  • Lightweight
  • Breathable
  • Great price
Best Uses
  • While using public transit

This was an awesome purchase I made after trying on at a Babywearing group meeting. Lightweight, easy to use, and my son slept in through hikes, meals, excursions all over the San Francisco area while we vacationed. Didn't take our stroller and didn't regret it!

Handy Lightweight Carrier
July 14, 2015
Needed a lightweight easy to use, but most importantly breathable carrier and this one certainly delivered. Compared to the 360, which I have, I desperately needed a carrier that breathable to deal with the summer heat and the ventilation on this one is excellent. The carrier is easy to strap on and is really straightforward to use. I wish all of the carriers fold into a bag, but that doesn't take away from it. I do think that for how simple and thin this one functions, the price point would be more affordable - probably the only negative.
Pros
  • Lightweight
  • Breathable
  • Easy buckling
Cons
  • Not really good for front facing

Worth Every Penny

I love my Ergo Ventus! I don't have a lot of experience with other baby carriers, but I know that my Ventus stays much cooler than my Ergo Organic and my moms Ergo Sport. One downside to choosing the Ventus over the regular Ergo Performance is that you lose the large storage pocket. However I feel like not having the pocket gives baby's back much needed airflow. The purple material is very soft and it seems very comfortable on baby's face. I love that the back panel is slightly taller and keeps the older babies I watch from pushing away from me so far. However, the higher sides put the straps right at baby's mouth height for longer! Chew pads are definitely a must with this carrier. All of the straps are easy to adjust while wearing the carrier. I am 5' 3" 120 lbs and have the carrier tightened almost all of the way, I probably have 2/3 inches left i could tighten the waist area further.

SOOOOOO Comfy
June 9, 2015
Recently purchased this carrier for long hikes and outing with my 9 month old. The carrier is so comfy; you don't even feel the weight of the little one. The only thing I so wish I was able to do with it is wear her front facing. But other than that I absolutely love it.

We own three Ergos, two original and this ventus carrier. We use our original carriers in most situations and for our two older children due to the thicker shoulder padding for the heavier weight (40 pound child). The ventus is perfection for our younger baby who doesn't weigh as much and isn't tall enough to come above the back support enough to get a lot of air flow. The ventus is an all mesh backing and allows a nice airflow. The big difference between the ventus and original carroes are three things. 1. The shoulder padding, the shoulder padding on the ventus is about half of that on the original carrier. the weight limits are about the same and both must be used with an infant insert when being used with an infant (which would make the ventus non mesh on the back due to the insert covering the mesh). 2. the back panel. The ventus is an all mesh backing and has a mesh inner linning that allows air to flow well. The original ergo has a solid backing and tends to cover most of the childs back making it a bit hotter in hot humid climates. And 3. The ventus does not have the larger pocket for the hood cover or the side pocket for diapers or keys. I have found this not to be a big deal for me but if you prefer the pocket for storage it may be something to think about.
Pros
  • all mesh back
Best Uses
  • hot or humid climates
Cons
  • thin shoulder straps tend to get uncomfortable faster than the original when carrying a heavier child.

easy to use & lightweight

Works better than babybjorn active. The latter suits smaller babies when they are not too heavy. Ergobaby feels lighter when carrying baby. Only thing is that it cannot face forward, but I heard it's not good to face front for long.

very comfortable for dad and baby
September 7, 2014
I decided on this Ergobaby carrier because I liked the way it looked. All the Ergobaby carriers look good but this one is a bit more sporty. This carrier works really well for walking around when my baby doesn't want to be in the car seat. It is not front facing but that doesn't seem to matter because she can look around, but most importantly look up at me and feel safe. Wearing the baby both on my front and side is very comfortable. The carrier does a good job of distributing weight so there is not back strain when wearing this for hours. I have taken it with me to Hong Kong and its been warn by several members of my family with ease. For example I am 6'3" and my wife is 5" and it easily adjusts to both of us in a snap. The only thing that was a mystery to me is there are two claps at the front that don't seem to hook to anything, I'm guessing that is for some optional attachment. I believe this is a comfortable carrier for baby because when his is fighting sleep I will put her in and walk around. In about 5 minutes or less she is usually out with her head resting on the shoulder straps. I love being able to have my hands free and still keep an eye on the baby. She likes to watch me to do chores.
Pros
  • Easily adjustable
  • Comfortable
  • Easy to clean
Best Uses
  • Rock baby to sleep while being able to have your hands free to catch up on chores.
  • Travel.

Love this carrier

This is a great baby carrier. I love how you can adjust it one time, and then just throw it on quickly and easily, knowing that your baby is really secure inside. It's very uncomplicated. I like the performance carrier because I feel like it keeps my baby a little bit cooler and more comfortable. I use this everywhere - walking, grocery shopping, at the mall, at outdoor events... everywhere! I like how you can pull the hood up and snap it to the carrier if baby falls asleep. It's also very comfortable to wear for extended periods of time because the weight is distributed evenly. This is really the perfect carrier.

This carrier is light weight, easy to use, and is comfortable for the baby. He likes falling asleep in it. For the parent, it does to strain the shoulders and hips a bit (baby is 15.5 pounds) after a while. But overall it's comfortable, especially having the little one so close and nestled. We use a rolled up blanket for him to sit on, to boost him up. We didn't get the infant insert since at 4.5 months, he'd outgrow it quickly, if he wasn't already too big for it.
Pros
  • Light, breathable, keeps cool

Fantastic Carrier
December 28, 2013
I got this to replace a borrowed organic Ergo that needed to be returned. I loved the organic one and was reluctant to veer from that product because it was so soft an cozy. But, we live in a very hot climate, are active & also have a 40lb 4yr old, in addition to a 20lb 9mos old, so the performance seemed like a better fit for our family. So far I love it. It's lighter & cooler than the organic, though, as expected, not as soft. But it's still soft enough & provides that snuggly feel with the little one. I have numerous carriers: a Bjorn classic, which my husband loves, a K'tan that I liked with my older daughter, a hotsling which was nice for 0-4 months, a ring sling which was great for 4-8 months, and since 8 months old the Ergo is all I want to use (I wish I'd had one with my first)! I've even carted my huge 4yr old in it & it was relatively comfortable (like the 45lb weight limit). I'd highly recommend an Ergo, in general & specifically the Performance model if you live in a hot place and/or have heavy kids & an active lifestyle.
Pros
  • Lightweight, cool, comfy, easy/discreet to nurse in
Best Uses
  • Hiking, shopping, housework, travel
Cons
  • Straps a little scratchy but payoff is cooler & more supportive

Great Carrier
December 21, 2013
I love the look (and color) of this carrier! My baby is not due for another 4 months so I haven't really gotten to try it out, but the blue is beautiful and it is light weight. The shoulder straps are ergonomic and nicely padded. I've read other reviews where people said they strap mesh material is "scratchy" but I do not think they are - and I plan to wear it with tank tops the majority of the time.
Pros
  • light weight compared to other carriers
  • breathable material
  • holds kids up to (I think) 45 lbs!

The Ergobaby Performance carrier is extremely easy to use. Our 4 week old fit great and didn't appear to get too hot while in the carrier for a little over an hour walking around shopping. This carrier is extremely easy to use and adjust.
