Description
Item # SCF651-23

Natural newborn-flow nipples are designed to help babies feed from both the breast and the bottle. The nipple's wide shape is similar to the shape of a breast, and its soft, rounded nipple encourages the same peristaltic movements used to breastfeed. Twin anti-colic valves keep air in the bottle and out of babies' tummies, making feeding and digesting more comfortable and reducing colic. The nipple is made of soft, durable silicone and has a petal design that prevents it from collapsing while your baby feeds.

I was very happy with the design of this nipple and bottle. However no matter how many times I adjust the nipple, lining up the two notches as much as possible it still leaks around the nipple while feeding my baby.
This is very upsetting as I am strictly pumping and do not produce enough to be wasting precious breast milk.

Tried plenty. They all leak. Horrible. I really wish the old model was still available for purchase. For lack of a better word. These new nipples suck.

Leaks

My daughter loves the SCF651/27 (old/obsolete model), but the SCF651 (new model, no "/27") leaks badly. I've thrown out two sets for leaking and returned another without bothering to try it. I just had another set gifted to me and decided to give it another try; these ones leak as well. The old SCF651/27 is made of a more rigid material and seems to seal better in the ring. Every single SCF651 I've tried leaks. You should pull the new design off the market and revert back to the old one. I don't know how you can stay competitive in this market with so many bottle options when you are producing such a sub-standard quality product. I assume you saved a ton of cost on the new material, or you have so much R&D sunk into it that you can't justify reverting. I now scour the internet looking for SCF651/27s from third-party sellers to hoard so I can keep my daughter fed.

I have only been using these nipples for about a month as my baby is almost 5 weeks old and they are leaking horribly sound the the top of the bottle ring where it meets the nipple. Some are leaking worse than others, but I have around 20 of these bottles and am becoming extremely frustrated coming to the realization that I may need to replace these bottles. It's a shame too because my baby really likes using these bottles, but the mess of the leaking is becoming too much. I would love suggestions at resolving the leaking problem before attempting to find new bottles.

Nipple Review
January 29, 2018
I received this product as a sample for testing from WeeSpring Parent Panel.
I have a preemie baby who is currently 8 weeks old. (She was 3 weeks early). I haven't noticed a big difference in the nipple sizes. They have not alleviated her gas or large burps after eating; however, she has had no trouble with the Avent nipples or the different size options.

Philip avent natural nipple
January 25, 2018
My daughter would get upset during her bottle time, and I couldn't figure out why. I knew she was hungry and I could see her sucking furiously on her bottle. But yet she kept crying. After doing some research on Google I learned that the size of the nipple matters. Slow flow will cause baby to be cranky and frustrated because it won't be getting its milk fast enough. Fast flow will feel like Niagara Falls to your baby. Philips Avent bottle√ā¬†offers a nipple size to meet every baby's needs. The nipples offer a natural latch that is similar to the breast that features unique comfort petals, so it is easier for baby to transfer back and forth from breast feeding to bottle feeding. The Natural nipples also feature an advanced anti-colic valve. Our daughter never had any tummy issues when using these nipples. I would highly recommend trying this brand, for the quality, and how well my daughter took to it with no more tummy issues. Thank you to weeSpring Parent Panel for sending me these nipples to try and review.

Philips Avent Natural Newborn Nipple Review
January 20, 2018
I am a new parent and had been exclusively breastfeeding my 4 week old baby until I received the Philips Avent Natural Newborn Nipple (and Philips Avent bottles) through the wee Spring Parent Panel. I needed to start getting baby used to bottle feeding, as I will have to return to work in 2 months. We currently are bottle feeding pumped breastmilk about once a day.
My baby does really well with the Philips Avent Bottles. Baby immediately took to the bottle and didn't seem to have any issues with feeding. The anti-colic vent in the nipple seems be effective, as we have not noticed any issues with gas since starting the bottle feeding. I like that the nipple is wide and more breast-shaped than some other brands, so baby has a good, natural latch while feeding. Baby isn't having any issues doing both breastfeeding and bottlefeeding.
It is nice to have different nipple options for the feedings. So far, we have used this size (Newborn Flow - Size 1) and the First Flow nipple - size 0. Baby seems to do well with both, but I prefer to give her the size 0 right now, as she is still so little. Will definitely graduate up to this size when she is ready.
Thank you to the weeSpring Parent Panel for providing me with these nipples!

Love the Philips Avent Nipple
January 20, 2018
My baby is a little over a month old and he has been exclusively breastfed. It made it difficult to go to the grocery store without him. So I started pumping and he absolutely did amazing with the Philips Avent Natural Newborn Nipple. He had the entire bottle and didn't spit up at all. The nipple didn't let out too much at once but enough so he was able to eat and be happy.

I received it at no cost as a member of weeSpring Parent Panel.

Excellent Newborn Nipple
January 20, 2018
I am an exclusively pumping mother and we have only used the Avent bottles for feeding. I received this bottle nipple from the weeSpring Parent Panel. The newborn flow is perfect for baby and helps control the flow that my aggressive feeder gets which is important for helping prevent spit-ups. We had the old style natural flow nipple for the first few weeks and I noticed that she would sometimes push the nipple in with her sucking, but I haven't had this problem with these nipples and I believe spiral design does make it more flexible. She still gets gassy despite the anti-colic valve, but despite that we are happy with the nipple and plan to continue to use them.

Less Mess, Less Gas, Less Stress!
January 19, 2018
I received this product through Wee Spring's Parent Panel program.

I'm a mom of a two year old and recently gave birth to our secone. With my first, we struggled with breastfeeding and tried several bottles with her using pumped breast milk to supplement and one of those bottles was Agent. When I had my son, I was concerned about our ability to effectively breastfeed so signed up for the ability to try Avent's new Natural Nipple and bottles.

With my daughter, I very much disliked the Avent bottle. The flow was entirely too fast for her, especially in the early stages of breastfeeding and there was constantly expressed breastmilk leaking out from her mouth and the bottle. This was incredibly frustrating, as many of you pumping mommas will understand. So, I was hesitant to try this product and even less confident that it would surprise me.

But it did. The nipple flow was perfect. We used the 0 flow. My son had absolutely no issue latching on and getting all the milk he needed. And he went right back to breast with ease. I was shocked. The best part of all was that we had less and less episodes with gas. This was a huge problem for my daughter, but my son seemed to do much better with the Avent Natural bottles and their anti-colic design.

I'm excited to have a bottle set that I have absolutely no concerns using intermittently while I breastfeed. Picking the right bottle for a baby who is mostly breastfed but also needs supplementation from time to time is SO HARD. This is the right choice. You will NOT be disappointed.

Perfect flow for my 4 week old.
January 18, 2018
As a first time mom, I had no idea bottles needed different nipples to control flow. So my oldest child had a hard time taking a bottle at first, and then eventually once he got older preferred bottles over breast because it was faster which negatively effected my supply. Thanks to WeeSpring Parent Panel for sending me these newborn nipples, they made it really easy for my 4 week old to use a bottle and she had no issues going from breast to bottle!

Really wanted to love this product
January 18, 2018
I really wanted my baby to like this nipple because I really love how easy the avent bottles are to clean, however she did not. My baby had a hard time keeping a good latch and when she did she was making a loud sucking noise and seemed quiet frustrated. She was very content with the 3+ size bottle so I would only recommend this nipple for babies who seem to me choke from the quicker flow of the 3+. FYI she was 3 weeks old when we tried this nipple. This would have been perfect for my older daughter when she was a newborn she struggled in this aspect. Thank you WeeSpring Parent Panel for the opportunity to try this product.

Great product
January 17, 2018
I'm a first time mom and have always been planning on breastfeeding my little one. I thought that I would not need a bottle but time proved me wrong.

I received a bottle as part of the weeSpring Panel together with a Soothie pacifier, bottle brush and microwaveable sterilizer.

I must say they were a nice surprise that arrived at the perfect time.

I realized that I needed all of the products mentioned above to give my little one the extra milk that I had. The bottle does not leak the precious milk and baby liked its shape and feel. Both bottle and pacifier did not effect the latching. I was afraid baby would find it hard to latch after using them but their unique design made latching even better. There is great airflow in the bottle, simple parts and easy to clean (brush came in handy here). It was great to have different sized nipples. I preferred the size one since it has low flow but not too little.

The sterilizer gave me peace of mind as I knew the bottle was well sterilized after each sterilization session. I'm very careful about cleanliness and avoiding germs and what not so this made my life easier. Very convenient, easy to use and time saving. (Huge plus for busy moms). The only negative things was deciding where to store to have it handy.

I would definitely recommend these products to every parent out there.

The newborn nipple is VERY baby friendly- my 6 week old daughter took to it right away! it's SO great to have this starter-flow nipple that doesn't interfere with breastfeeding. I also noticed a difference with her being less fussy afterwards which I believe to be because she is less gassy with this nipple! Win-win!

Good newborn bottle intro
January 17, 2018
I breastfeed my 3 week old baby but also pump for the occasional bottle right now and will use more bottles once I return to work. For now, I wanted to introduce a bottle to get her used to it before waiting too long. These nipples are great for newborn stomachs since they only hold a small amount of milk. The size 1 nipple works great. She took to it right away and didn't seem to have any trouble with the flow rate or gas. I burped her after but didn't hear any audible burps so I hope the bottle and nipple design had something to do with that. I like the variety of nipple choices Avent offers as my baby gets older. The quality of all the parts was nice and solid. No cheap plastic feeling parts. These were a great way to introduce bottle feeding for us. I received this product as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel.

Super easy to use!
January 17, 2018
Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel, I was able to try this nipple with my son for his first bottle feeding experience. We tried this newborn nipple with the Avent bottles. Cleaning and sterilizing was a breeze! My son was already 6-weeks old when we tried this product for the first time, I feel like he could have easily used the next flow size, but he took well to this one and was able to easily "latch" without issue. The nipple felt the most real of the other bottles we had on our registry. I'd definitely recommend this to someone as a starting point for bottle feeding! The variety of nipple flow sizes and bottle sizes ensures you can find the perfect match for your new baby!

January 17, 2018
As a first time parent I did not know what bottle to choose and what to look for.
The weeSpring Panel provided me a bottle together with a Soothie pacifier, bottle brush and microwaveable sterilizer.

It was quite an experience trying the different nipples sizes. Our little one line the smaller one being a girl. It's shaoe is well thought of and also the material used.

Our baby was having a hard time latching so was always hungry and fussy. This bottle helped us to supplement formula but also helped in improving latching - something which I was not expecting since pacifiers are not recommended for breastfeeding babies.

I am glad I got to try this product and was pleasantly surprised that it improved latching. Definitely a must have for parents.

Baby liked it!
January 16, 2018
I was so excited to receive the Philips Avent Natural Newborn Nipple to trial from the weeSpring Parent Panel! Though I exclusively breastfeed, I'm getting ready to send my baby to the babysitter soon, and starting to slowly introduce bottles. Having received this to trial in exchange for a review, I tried out the Philips Avent line with the Natural Newborn nipple, and my baby liked it. I'm not sure if the design is really unique, but it worked for us. I do like that it's wide-necked, to help simulate eating from the breast, and ease transition back and forth. I didn't notice any significant concerns with gas or colic while using this, but my baby isn't particularly fussy.

I would recommend including this in the arsenal of choices if your baby is particular about nipples/bottles.

Fast flow for my 4-week old
January 16, 2018
The Philips Avent Natural Newborn Nipple seems to be an easy to use, high quality product, but the rate of flow is too fast for my baby. I didn't know anything about different size nipples or flow rates until trying to pump and bottle feed my baby for the first time over the past couple of weeks, but I have found that all newborn or 0+ month size nipples still have too fast of a flow for my 4 week old, who had been exclusively breastfeed until just recently. Because of this, I couldn't tell if this nipple is able to relieve her of gas. My baby cries during bottle feeding anyway since she's just getting used to it, and the fast flow causes her to cough and turn away from the nipple. I use nipple shields while breastfeeding, so that likely reduces the amount of milk she is used to taking in even more. If Philips Avent made this nipple in a preemie size, it would likely work better for my baby's needs at this point in time, and I would love to try it!

Despite these concerns, it is very helpful to have a variety of nipple choices available, especially for first time moms like myself. I think that many other first time moms, like me, are unaware of all of the differences in the nipples that are on the market and the impact that they can make on successfully establishing bottle feeding for a newborn. Even though there are reviews of lots of baby products on websites and blogs, information on choosing the most appropriate nipple seems to be overlooked most of the time. I will look forward to trying the Philips Avent Natural Newborn Nipple again in a few weeks when my baby might be better able to handle the flow.

Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for sending me this nipple to try and review.

Good for a newborn drinking normal formula
January 16, 2018
We adopted our baby girl, and while we would have loved to breastfeed or be part of a milk sharing program...it just wasn't practical. So she has been formula-fed since birth. Because of bad reflux to the point of developing Sandifer's Syndrome (a scary, seizure-like response to reflux), we have had to alter our feeding habits to smaller amounts more frequently. As a result, we go through a LOT of bottles each day. We really like the Phillips Avent bottles and nipples. Our daughter has taken to them very well, and while we can't tell if they minimize the reflux, they certainly don't make it any worse. Unfortunately, because we've recently had to switch our formula to one thickened with rice starch (Enfamil A.R.), we can no longer use the newborn/size 1 nipples - they are too small/slow-flow for her to get anything out. We have to use size 2+ nipples.
I received these nipples as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel.

Latch-like Choice
January 16, 2018
The Philips Avent Newborn Nipple is very latch-like!

I was lucky to be given this nipple to try as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel. The Newborn Nipple looks pretty close to matching the breast especially the base part. I think as a new mom this design makes way more sense once you get latching down. It helps your baby keep their mouth open to the right size and to mimic the same movements they would at the breast.

Of course as a new mom you hear about nipple confusion so anything designed to be similar to Mom parts is a bonus. It was fairly easy for my daughter to take this bottle. Her mouth seemed to open more to latch position more than with other bottles. She didn't take in any excess air either! Her mouth seemed sealed around the base the entire feeding. I think the extended part of the nipple could be shorter actually and then it would really be similar.

Since my daughter is a newborn, the slower flow nipples were the best option for her. She didn't seem to guzzle the milk down or have to work too hard to get milk. To be honest I haven't noticed if she was more or less colicky since we've been pretty lucky with that so far!

I would recommend this nipple and brand as soon as the baby comes home or when bottles are incorporated. I think it would be a significant change from an other brand to these latch-like nipples after. Every baby is different but, my baby took to these nipples with ease.

I received this product from weespring parent panel and haven't had it very long but am happy with it so far. The baby took the nipple pretty easy and seemed to latch on well. I am new to bottle feeding but so far this seems to be a great transition to a bottle for my little one. We are trying the "pace" feeding to keep the experience as close to breastfeeding as possible and these low flow nipples seem to be a great fit. She hasn't been too picky so far with any bottles, and took this nipple easily as well. I received this item from the weeSpring parent panel.

The Philips Avent Natural Newborn Nipple was easy for my baby to take to. As a first time mom and with troubles latching during breastfeeding, I wanted a nipple option and bottle that made my baby feel comfortable and would provide a nipple for good suckling. Successful bottle feeding!
January 15, 2018
Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel, my baby and I were given and able to try the Philips Avent Natural Newborn Nipple. As a mom hoping to exclusively breastfeed for the time being but aware that I needed to introduce a bottle at the right time (not to soon, not too late), I was anxious about doing so the first time. Fortunately, my baby took to the nipple immediately (and doesn't seem to have strong preferences regarding style and flow rate or issues with colic and gas), but I was relieved to have the newborn size as I want to ensure my baby can continue to both breast and bottle feed.

Love These Nipples. Solved Our Problems Instantly.
January 15, 2018
I'm a new mom -- my first was born just 3 weeks ago. I'm breastfeeding, but also pump so that my husband can help with some of the feeding (and give me the ability to leave the house occasionally in these first few weeks).

Our little one was struggling to eat (both bottle and breastfeeding) without 50% of the milk leaking out the side, significant spit up and hiccups later or gagging. The slow flow was incredibly helpful in slowing down the flow for our little one. Since using these nipples, we no longer "lose" milk out of his mouth and no longer have spit up -- which means we have a happier, fuller and less fussy baby! Yes!!!

I also liked this set because it gave us nipple variety, so we can chose the right options for feeding our LO. We had no issue switching from what we were using before to these.

Note: I received this product to try as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel, however the opinions are all my own.

Babies love this nipple
January 15, 2018
Received this to review for the weeSpring Parent Panel. As an exclusively pumping momma, I was very keen on getting a few different brands of nipples to introduce to my babies just in case they have a hard time with one or another. Both of my newborns took to the Philips newborn nipple right away without issue. As they never had issue with gas or developed colic, it's hard to say if the nipples prevented it or helped it go away... Either way, I don't plan on finding out. It is important to start out with the newborn nipple and progress with higher flow rates. This helps newborns learn to suck better and to not over feed or feed to fast which could cause them to throw up/spit up more. I liked that the nipple flow rate is clearly marked on the nipple so you don't get confused when switching them out.

Love the nipples
January 15, 2018
I chose to bottle feed and breastfeed my daughter. I wanted my husband to have the same bonding experience I get from breastfeeding. I really like that I was able to get more than one kind/size of nipple for the Philips Avent bottles. When my daughter got a little older the size 0 nipples that came with her bottles were too slow and we needed to change the nipples to the next size up. My daughter preferred the flow rate of the size 0+ nipple to the size 0 after the first week of life. The anti-colic vent in the nipples meant my daughter was less gassy than you typically see in bottle fed babies. My daughter took the nipple the first time we offered it. She did not take any other nipple/bottle we tried prior to the Philips Avent Natural nipples. We have really enjoyed using these nipples when feeding our daughter. Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for providing me with this gift set.

I received the Philips Avent Natural Newborn Nipple as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel. I did not receive any compensation for my opinion of this product. I just began using bottles with my son and it has been an easier than expected process. He was able to latch on comfortably and seems to have an easier time with digestion afterwards. I like that this brand has varying nipple flow choices to grow with my baby. Thanks, weeSpring for introducing me to this product.

A Must for New Babies!
January 14, 2018
I have been breastfeeding and am about to return to work full time, which means my little one will be headed to daycare. Introducing a bottle is a bit nerve wracking for breastfeeding moms, will they take to it and will it cause nipple confusion are two issues that come up.

Thankfully there are so many different options out there for moms to try. This nipple worked wonderfully. The wide base made it great for latching. I am not sure if it helped to relieve gas, but I can definitely say it didn't cause any. My son did not have any extra air trapped after and it worked well.

The flow was perfect for us as well. The little one has reflux and didn't make it worse (which is awesome and very important!). I will definitely be getting these in the different flow rates for as he gets older.

The last important feature to me is how does it clean. The size of these make them so much easier to handle and clean in comparison to other nipples.

If you're debating whether or not you should try these, I can say with confidence that you should!

weeSpring Product Panel provided me with these to try and review, but all opinions are 100% my own. Thank you weeSpring!

Perfect for preventing nipple confusion
January 14, 2018
FTM here and I'm currently in law school, so classes started when my son was 4 weeks old, so needless to say I was so worried about him accepting a bottle and being able to come back to the breast when I was back home. I had to start introducing the bottle at around 3 weeks so he had a week to make sure he'd take a bottle consistently. I did so much research and the answer "try a million different bottles and see what he likes" just didn't seem like a good answer to me but I understand why that is the answer we are given. Anyways, I had no idea where I wanted to start and these nipples and bottles ended up being a god send.

From day 1 my little man took the bottle from his dad on the first try with ZERO issues and 3 hours later was back on the breast with no problem. I definitely cried the first time he took the bottle but I am so glad he took the bottle so easily and still came back to momma and I think these nipples were a big reason why. They are wide and soft so I think they mimic the breast well. They also have air venting to help prevent comic and my little man has not had any gas issues so it works well for us.

I will say I think the flow is a bit fast for these. I've also used the slow flow for newborns (size 0) and even that is a bit fast but like I said we've had no issues going back and forth from Brest to bottle so maybe I just don't know what the flow should look like.

Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for providing me with this item.

Didn't help with gas or reflux...
January 13, 2018
I have a 2.5 year old and a 4 week old. My first was a terrible eater, in fact, I wouldn't even call her an eater at all, she just didn't eat. She ended up on a feeding tube for 6 months after trying every nipple/bottle and every formula on the planet. With my newborn, this kid is an eater! All he wants to do is eat! We already had a tried and true nipple/bottle that we love (after trying them all with my daughter!), but I was given this product to try as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel, so we tried the newborn nipple with our little one. I will say, it's great that they offer the newborn size nipple, it's great to have options! My newborn had no issues eating from this nipple, and doesn't seem to have a preference on flow rate, but his latch was not the same as it is on the breast or the bottles we have that much more similarly resemble the breast. So, he didn't eat as efficiently and in turn had horrible gas and spit up. We had a hard time getting his burps out and then he had horrible gas on the other end too. I felt so bad for the little guy, we never have these issues with our usual bottles and nipples. So I would say that these did not help us with reflux or gas at all. I personally would not recommend these at all if you are worried about gas/colic/reflux with your little one. On the other hand, if you do like the Avent bottles/nipples, these nipples are easy to clean and are great to have as an option for the little ones. Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for providing me with this product to try!

Perfect for Newborn
January 13, 2018
These nipples are perfect for my 4 week old, mostly breastfed newborn. We introduced her to a bottle about a week ago, and the first time i used a different slow flow nipple. It was awful, she choked on the milk and it was dribbling out of her mouth because the flow was faster than she was used to. But we didn't have those issues with these nipples! She can drink from these no problem, and easily switches back and forth between the bottle and breast. We notice that she tends to drink very fast on the breast and gets gassy. But when we use these nipples she seems to have less gas. Can't say enough good things about these nipples! Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for providing me with this product!

Really does mimick the breast!
January 13, 2018
These nipples are really different than any other ones I tried. They are marketed as mimicking the softness of a nipple and I can see how Philips took the time to make them sturdy but with different softer spots around the edge. Also the top of the nipple has little flow guides that seem to help the milk come out in a similar spiraling way to breastmilk (which I have noticed comes out in a helix twist when I hand express). With other nipples, my firstborn always had trouble latching because they were so big and he was tongue tied. These nipples are soft enough that my newborn latches easily and doesn't inhale extra air (the anti-colic valve helps with this as well). I think my newborn is also tongue tied a little bit and he definitely has a lip tie so it's very important for me to find products that will help his latch as much as possible. With these nipples, his lips are able to flange outwards to create optimal suction and I didn't need to help him insert the nipple in his mouth multiple times as I have had to in the past.
I will probably use these newborn nipples even when my son gets older since my older son got nipple confusion with a different brand and refused the breast for months after I introduced bottles. I was scared this would happen again but at the same time, I wanted to have him bottle feed as well because it's practical, less tiring and it enables other family members to enjoy his feedings too. I feel like this would be less likely to happen this time around because of the slower flow rate and softer nipple.

Great nipple for fussy babies
January 12, 2018
I received these nipples from the weeSpring Parent Panel. It's great to have spare nipples around in the event you lose one or drop it on the floor. My son takes really well to these and it doesn't cause him any discomfort. I recommend these for all newborns especially ones that have a hard time taking to nipples or get a bit fussy.

Perfect flow for breast fed baby
January 12, 2018
I was able to try this nipple through the weespring parent panel
My exclusively breast fed baby was able to use the newborn nipple with ease! Perfect latch from the first use! It was the perfect flow for her and The fact that there is a variety of nipple choices available makes it easy for all babies even my picky little one.
We also have had some colic and gas issues and with the nipple they seem to have disappeared completely!

Great newborn nipple for bottle fed & breastfed baby!
January 12, 2018
My son is 4 weeks ago and our feeding journey has already had a rocky start. He was a fairly large baby at birth (9 lbs 4 oz) and I falsely assumed he would be great at nursing. Not so much! The first week he seemed more interested in sleeping than latching properly. I had to introduce a bottle to him early and have been pumping my milk. When I first introduced a bottle to him, I was really concerned about nipple confusion. His latch was already so-so and I worried the bottle would only add to the issues. Fortunately, Philips Avent Natural Newborn nipples have made our transition back and forth between bottle and breast easier---not more difficult. On an average day, my son will nurse directly from me for 60% of his feedings and take a few feedings from the bottle from my husband or myself. I appreciate the newborn nipples' slow flow since it mimics a more-breast like natural flow. I will not be in a rush to move my son up from the newborn nipples since I think this is a huge reason behind our transition success. My son had some issues with spitting up after feedings initially. Since trying the Philips Advent Natural Newborn nipples, I have noticed he seems to spit up less. As a new mom with limited time, I also appreciate the bottle's simple design. It makes cleaning the bottles quick and easy. I received this product from the weeSpring Parent Panel to try and review.

Natural Like Nipple
January 12, 2018
I received this product from the weeSpring Parent Panel and it is working great for us. My son is six weeks old and primarily nurses, so it was important for me to find a bottle that I could switch back and forth from and not cause him confusion. The slow flow of these are great for that too because I don't want him to think bottles are just instant gratification. He still nurses just as nicely now that he has been switching between bottle and breast. He is a very gassy little guy, so I was glad to see the nipple letting very little air through. He seemed less gassy after using these bottles. I am very satisfied with them!

Great for the first month
January 12, 2018
My baby boy was born three weeks early and had to stay in the NICU for a few days, this meant that my plan to breastfeed exclusively had to change to include supplementing with both pumped milk and formula. I am returning to work so i knew i would have to get him used to to being fed by the bottle.

The Philips Avent Natural Newborn Nipple is great when your baby requires the slow flow necessary as a newborn, it made him work for the milk to practice sucking without becoming frustrated. It was a great shape that my baby latched onto very easily. It also fits all Philips Avent bottles so you can use it no matter what size you have or if you have the anti colic bottles. My baby developed reflux and these nipples seemed to help relieve that with their good shape and flow.

The nipple was easy to use and clean.

The one negative i have is that this only covers one age range (newborn) and therefore isn't needed for very long.

Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for providing me with this bottle nipple!

Quality Brand & Product
January 12, 2018
I received this product from the weeSpring Parent Panel, and was happy to give these items a try as I already had a few Philips Avent products.

I was already familiar with the bottles I was already familiar with, and loved what they've done for my infant. We've used them since she was about a week old and she takes to them over other bottles/nipples. She had a lot of gas issues when using bottles, and I noticed a huge improvement with using the Phillips Avent bottles that have anti-colic nipples. She also has no problem switching between breast and the Phillips Avent nipples, like she does with other brands.

If you haven't, I would highly recommend registering for these items to get your bottle set started.

Really like these nipples
January 12, 2018
I received these nipples as part of the weeSpring Parent Panel. My little one is primarily bottle fed due to low supply so we use a ton of bottles each day. Previously, we were using other anti-colic bottles that had a more narrow nipple but the many parts made them hard to clean. These nipples seem to work better for her than some of the others because of the wider base and more 'natural' shape. I've enjoyed using these because my little one accepts the bottle more readily and seems to drink faster with them.

Great for newborns
January 12, 2018
My 5 week old primarily breastfed baby did great with this nipple. The flow rate was good for a newborn and he had no issues with latch or gas. It's simple to use and clean. I would recommend this nipple! I received this from weeSpring parent panel for my honest feedback.

Great flow rate, but some gagging issues.
January 12, 2018
Background- Our baby is 6wks old today, and almost exclusively breastfed. I received this product for free from the weeSpring Parent Panel, and also purchased some "0m" sized nipples for comparison with this set ("0m+").

My baby eventually accepted this bottle/nipple set, but it took 3 days with multiple tries/day. I think it would have helped to introduce this bottle sooner to her than 4wks, or perhaps she has a preference for nipples similar to her pacifier.

Pros
- The Air-flex/anti-colic vent worked fine, we've had no issues with colic, and this did not cause any issues.
- Wide nipple shape mimics a breast.
- Excellent range of nipple flows. The "0m" size was actually too slow for her, which was a first! The "0m+" was perfect for her "sucking" level at this age.

Cons
- Baby had some gagging issues with the nipple at first. I think because the nipple doesn't collapse into the bottle the way that a human nipple sink into the breast during breastfeeding, though this might be a personal quirk to my baby. This gagging was NOT due to overly fast milk-flow, which I have also experienced with other nipples.

The Only Nipple My Baby Will Happily Take
January 12, 2018
The Philips Avent Natural Newborn Nipples come in a trendy package and there are two nipples in the package. They come in hard plastic protection which is handy if you're like me and keep those types of things for storage and travel protection from germs! The nipples are a natural shape to mimic a woman's nipple. The packaging states that they are "flexible with soft texture" and I 100% agree! I love that the nipples are BPA free. I got so excited when I got these bottles because, to me, they are the most natural baby nipples/ bottles on the market!
I just had my third child and every single one of my babies has been super gassy and has lots of spit up after feedings. I exclusively breastfeed but I pump so my husband can give the baby a bottle sometimes and I can have a little break! We tried several different bottles all with different nipples- Dr. Browns, Avent, and Nuk. I think it's important to have a variety of nipple choices available to ensure the best fit for my baby. My baby took to all three but we have had the best results with the Avent nipples and bottles. The other nipples were either too fast of a flow for him which resulted in wasting my "liquid gold" (any mom who has pumped knows how painful it is to watch her milk being wasted!) or they seemed like it took him too long to get a good flow going. With the Avent Natural Newborn Nipple, he latched well right away and didn't get fussy because the flow was just right. It wasn't too fast or slow and nothing was leaking out of the corners of his mouth. I personally love these nipples because they do not leak ( aka- not wasting the breastmilk!) while he is sucking on them.
When my husband gives the baby the bottle, he stops every 2 oz to burp the baby (pediatrician recommended) to ensure that he doesn't get too many gas bubbles in his tummy. As for the other bottles we tried, he seemed to have a lot of gas and fussiness afterward. With the Avent bottles, the baby was hardly fussy at all after his bottle. I credit the flow and shape of the nipple!
One more thing that I love about the Avent nipples/bottles is how easy they are to clean. There aren't a ton of parts you have to take apart and wash, just the nipple, ring, and bottle. With other bottles, the extra parts are so time consuming to clean, sterilize, and put back together. The Avent bottles are a breeze to clean and reassemble compared to the other bottles.
Overall, I love the Avent brand! Thank you to weeSpring Parent Panel for sending me the Philips Avent Natural Newborn Nipple!

Great Introductory Nipple!
January 12, 2018
The Philips Avent Natural Newborn Nipple is a great introductory nipple! My daughter is exclusively breastfed and will not take a pacifier, and at 5 weeks old, we introduced her to a bottle. She had no problems taking this nipple whatsoever! And had no problems going back to the breast. My husband gives her the bottle, and she starts out slow like she would on the breast and moves quickly to the letdown stage. It sounds identical to when she breastfeeds, so I know she isn't taking too much in at one time. Thanks to the weeSpring Parent Panel for providing us with the Philips Avent Natural Newborn Nipple, we can get her ready for daycare, and recommend a great all around newborn nipple!
