Wonderful item; deceptive vendor
December 16, 2012
I purchased this item on Black Friday using a "20% off a regularly priced item" email coupon. Albee Baby had multiple colors of this item, and this one was the only one that was not marked as "on sale" but had a regular price that was $20 less than the other colors. I was looking for a deal, so I purchased this item. I received the item quickly, and was disappointed to find that the item was manufactured in 2011. These have a 7 year lifespan, so I lost a year of useful life. I emailed to company to ask what could be done, and they still haven't responded to my email. I called them and they offered to pay for return shipping, but would not exchange for a newer item (I guess all they have of this model/color are manufactured in 2011). Ultimately, I elected to keep the item because I needed a car seat and didn't know when another 20% off sale would occur, but Albee Baby should have advertised that this item was a year old. That is the kind of thing you notice immediately if you are shopping in a retail store and you trust that a baby store would list important details like that on their site. I do appreciate that they offered to pay for the return shipping (which is above and beyond what their return policy suggests), but they would not adjust my purchase price even if that would have been cheaper for them than shipping the item back.
Pros:The car seat has the highest safety rating and seems to be well-padded. My son likes his "big boy" seat.
Cons:Nothing; this is a great booster seat. I only wish Albee Baby made it clear on their website that the "regular price" was lower than the other items because it was an old item.
