Exactly what we needed
January 1, 2016
Our little one hated her infant carrier so we bought this convertible car seat and she is silent as can be in it now! She sits higher in it than her previous car seat so she can look out the window now. The only draw back is that we have a 2013 Ford Explorer and she is behind the passenger seat, not a lot of room for the person sitting in the passenger seat when that car seat is rear facing.

haven't experience it yet but getting to be real soon though, only because my daughter had gotten a infant with the stroller and that was excellent and im sure that this one is going to be too....just because it has a steel frame to it to protect the little one...and there too the straps is easy enough to adjust and because I bought it....

Not like it seems

Most kids will outgrow the entire seat by height before they even hit the weight for the booster. Its expensive and HUGE. However, this is great if you need to swith seats between kids frequently. A friend can reinstall rearfacing for her 1yr old or forward for her 3 year old in seconds. I returned mine because of poor fit for both car and baby

I Researched Thoroughly Before Purchasing This
May 25, 2013
I am the kind of person that has to research all of my options out thoroughly, before making an important purchase. I spent literally hours pouring over product videos, reading reviews, looking at different styles of seats, contacting companies about their car seats to see which ones are steel reinforced, visiting countless web sites to compare prices, looking at product comparison charts, etc., etc..In the end, I decided on this seat for my little one, and I'll tell you why. This seat is not only steel reinforced, it is quite literally an all inclusive seat. It grows with your child from birth through the end of their booster seat days. It comes with an included base that stays in the car, and adjusts from infant rear facing (rear facing to 40lbs), to toddler w/harness front facing (harness to 65lbs), and is then easily removed for the child front facing booster seat usage position (booster to 100lbs). This seat is also extremely easily adjusted with one hand (you squeeze and then pull up) for each growth setting stage that your child has. So there's never any tedious re-threading of the harness, like all other seats (to my knowledge) have. There is a level mark on this, which makes knowing if the seat is positioned correctly, very super easy. I also like the extra padding, which makes it a comfy ride for baby or child. This seat sits a bit more upright than an infant car seat does, so my small toddler can see out of this a lot better than the infant car seat allowed her to.I do agree that this is a very large seat, and that if you have a small vehicle, you may not like this. But if you have even a midsize car, this should work for you. We have a Dodge, Journey, and though the passenger seat is forward halfway, it really isn't a big deal. On the flip side of this being large, it is also very heavy, so I know that it's durable and will stand the test of time. The heaviness isn't an issue for us, since this seat stays in this one vehicle. The only time it will come out, is when we flip the base to forward facing. The only thing that I don't like about this seat is the super huge shoulder pads that it comes with. My small toddler is buried in them, but it seems to bother me more than her. If these annoy your child, they are easily removable.Overall I am VERY pleased with this purchase, and would recommend this seat to everyone. I think Graco really hit a home run with this seat.
Pros
  • Birth to 100 pounds, so no other car seats necessary.
Cons
  • Very large car seat.

My son seems to like this cars seat, we just took a road trip 4 hours one way and he slept most do the trip. The seat is rear facing now and is fairly easy to get my 9 month old in and out of.

Great carseat!
November 27, 2012
The carseat is well made, easy to install, and comfortable for my baby to ride in. I read the reviews and agree that it is bulky but I am willing to overlook that for the safety and comfort of my child. As long as you have the room in your vehicle, I highly recommend this carseat.
Pros
  • Safe
  • Luxurious
  • Easy to install
  • All in one (rear facing, forward facing, and a booster)
Cons
  • Bulky
  • Heavy

Adorable, comfortable and safe
May 8, 2012
After much research, I chose to buy this carseat for my daughter when it was time to stop using her infant seat. The pattern is adorable. The base and the carseat were both super easy to install and switch from my car to my husbands when needed. My daughter hated being in her infant seat. If she wasn't sleeping she was screaming. She is much happier in this seat and appears to be a lot more comfortable. The recline feature is great and easy to use. I love how easy it is to adjust the height. My only complaint when I initially started using this seat was that I found it difficult to tighten the straps adequately. I really felt like I had to use all my strength to tighten them. I think part of the issue is the harness covers, They are big and bulky. My daughter is 18lbs and they just seem so big. I have been able to more easily manuever the straps and am okay with the fact that it may take a minute longer for me to strap her in because I know she is safe. I don't think this car seat would be a good fit for an infant as the harness covers are needed when rear facing, besides you can't beat the ease of use and convenience of a true infant seat. Also, it is a big seat. It just fits in my Honda Pilot (middle seat, second row). I would not be able to put it behind the drivers seat as I would have to sit too close to the dash. It fits without any issues in my husbands Tahoe. I think it is probably too big (atleast in rear facing) in most smaller cars and SUV's.
Pros
  • Ease of installation
  • Comfort
  • Pattern
  • Recline Feature
  • Ease of height adjustment
  • Safety
Cons
  • Harness Covers

This is a wonderful car seat and I would recommend it to any one with a larger car. It fits fine in my full size SUV. It is a bit heavy and bulky but I know that my son is safe.

Worth the money!!!
April 12, 2012
I have 5 kids and have the best car seats. The smart seat came out around the same time as my 5th child, so after many hours of research I purchased it. I just received it and am in love with it! It is so attractive and well made. I wish we would have this for my now 2 year old. He is in a Britax which I love as well, but I will have to spend more money when he out grows that. So for what you get for the price of this one is well worth the little extra now spent! I have read other reviews o. Other sites where they say it's big, but really it's not much bigger than my Britax marathon. Our 7 month old loves it!!
Pros
  • Well made, great features, nice fabric.
Cons
  • Hard to get out of box by myself. But so worth it because so well made!

Over all seems like a great car seat
February 21, 2012
I only received this about 5 days ago, but my husband had the base installed in less than 5 minutes. My daughter who is 19 mo seems to really like it too. She has plenty of room in it, and the fact that it has so many ways to adjust it makes it very comfortable for her. I haven't had any issues with adjusting the harness, the recline or the head position at all. I like that when you adjust the head position it adjusts the harness height as well (not the overall fit, but the notch it resides in). We had to do that manually on our infant car seat. There are a couple things that could be easier for parents. First of all the locking mechanism has knobs on both sides of the seat. It's kind of hard to unlock it from the base/lock it to the base because I have to actually crawl up on the floor board to reach the knob on the far side. (I have a Ford Edge, by the way). It also takes up a lot of room in rear facing position. I can drive comfortably, but I am only 5'4". My husband would be far too cramped because we can't put the seat all the way back. (He's 6'3".) It seems that we can get it about 1/2 way or a bit more. No one will be able to ride in the passenger seat of his Subaru I'mpreza with it rear facing either. However, it seems well constructed, and the padding seems more than adequate to provide a comfortable seat for my daughter. Her safety and comfort outweigh the inconveniences. Overall I would recommend this seat. This pattern is very pretty too. That's just a bonus.
Pros
  • Seems sturdy and safe.
  • Seems comfortable.
  • Easy to adjust.
  • Can use for many years if taken care of.
  • Stay in car base.
Cons
  • Difficult to detach from or attach to the base because of the position of the locking knobs.
  • Takes up a lot of room in rear facing position.

Great Car Seat - Sturdy and Substantial. Great for tall babies!
February 13, 2012
After reviewing many many many car seats for safety ratings, we decided to purchase the Smart Seat. Our son is very tall (in the 97th percentile) and quickly outgrew his infant seat. We found this seat to accomodate his height quite nicely and since it is adjustable, will be able to grow with him. It has one of the highest harness heights I've come across in my search. Great reviews from the Transportation Safety Committee and other parents. The down sides are that this car seat is a beas and built with steel reinforcments. Great for saftey, but hard to move from multiple cars due to it's weight. Recline position is great too. This color combo is fantastic too! Nice grey color with a tan infant padding.
Pros
  • Recline positions
  • Sturdy and strong with
  • Height adjustments for tall babies
Cons
  • Heavy

Great Car Seat!
January 21, 2012
This car seat is amazing. It is very versitile and will hopefully last a long time. However, it is rather large. I have a Mercedes C300, so in the rear facing position the front seat has to be all the way forward. Which means there is no room for anyone of average height to sit in the front.
Pros
  • Easy to use
  • Great quality
  • Versatility
Cons
  • Large

The Jemma Car Seat by Graco
January 11, 2012
This is an amazing car seat. I understand it's more expensive than others, but it can go from taking a new baby home to when they're up to 4 years old. Bought this for my granddaughter for her birthday (really for her parents) because she wanted to see where she was going -- you know, where all the action was. This seat made me and her parents feel that she was safe and well protected.Love my purchase.

My daughter loves it!
January 4, 2012
Overall, I really like this carseat. And my almost four-year-old daughter absolutely loves it! Of course, the selling features for her are the cup holder and the colors/design. Unfortunately, I do NOT like how difficult it is to install the base. I'm a single parent, so have no need for a second base because there is no second car. However, my daughter does occasionally go places with other people and it is a ridiculous PAIN to get the carseat transferred to the other car. Additionally, the harness does not easily buckle. The selling points for me, though, are that the seat can be used from birth through a 100 lb youth. And that makes it worth it.
