Love this seat!

Great seats at an affordable price. Our twins love them and we do too. These are the 3rd and 4th Evenflo Triumphs that we have owned with no complaints.

Good, not great
June 2, 2013
I really like this carseat. It works great when forward facing, but is impossible to use rear facing in either of our cars. The knob you use to tighten the straps pushes against the seat when rear facing and is unusable.

comfortable carseat
April 23, 2013
Very nice appearance and seems to be very comfortable for our 3 year old grandchild. Love the way it adjust from the front. This seat is rather large, even in our SUV (7 passenger). Also, sits up high and makes it kind of difficult to see out while looking in rear view mirror even when no one is in the seat. However, it does recline so that helps with the obstructed vision. If your vehicle is large enough, I would recommend this carseat. It is really nice and can be used for up to 65 lbs.
Pros
  • comfort and usage for up to 65 lbs
  • all adjustments can be made from front of seat
  • rear or front facing with reclining feature so head doesn't fall forward
  • price
  • quality
Best Uses
  • because of size and the fact that it doesn't seperate from base, I think it's best use is for older/larger children but it can be used for rear facing infants as well.
Cons
  • takes up lots of space and obstructs vision (at least in SUV - could be due to higher seats)
  • Doesn't seperate from base (probably because of size) which would be a plus if used for rear facing infant

Comfortable and easy in and out!
April 10, 2013
This seat has worked out well for our granddaughter. She is very comfortable in it - falls asleep every time. It's a snap to get her in and out of it. Although it's a very large seat, we have an SUV so it fits. Once she is big enough to turn it around it will not appear so large. We wanted a seat that would grow with her. It is not an easy seat to install and my husband had to rig a wire coat hanger to put through the hole where the seat belt goes to grab it and pull it through. It takes both of us to do it - one on each side. But, we keep the hook in the car under the seat so it's there when we need it. I'm still pleased with the seat and would buy it again as it's very cushiony and more reasonably priced than others.
Pros
  • Cushioned, comfortable seat
  • Easy to strap in and release.
Cons
  • Difficulty in getting seat belt through seat to secure in car.
  • Very large size when in reverse position.

Comfy and easy to use, but not easy to clean
April 6, 2013
We've been using this convertible car seat with our 7-month-old daughter for about a month now. We all like it.
Pros
  • easy to use, comfortable for the kid
Cons
  • very wide so it takes up lots of backseat space, hard to clean because the straps are not removable

Overall Pretty Good
March 14, 2013
We bought 3 of these car seats. Overall I'd say it's pretty good. It's very soft and comfy. Has a lot of space for our daughter to grow into. The downside is that I found it very difficult to install and get really tight. When rear-facing, the knobs to tighten and release are pressed up against the seat and very difficult to use. That will be better after we make it front facing, but we've still got awhile before we can do that. It is a very bulky car seat. Works fine in my Pontiac Vibe. My husband has a tiny Mitsubishi Mirage and when it's rear-facing, it really pushes up against the driver's seat. He had to move his seat forward so he's not very comfortable now when driving! So if you have a tiny car, beware!
Pros
  • -Lots of space to grow in
  • -Comfy and soft
  • -Easy to manuever straps
  • -Sturdy and durable
Cons
  • -Difficult to install
  • -Difficult to tighten and release straps when rear-facing
  • -Very big and bulky

Bulky but Easy to Use
February 27, 2013
I bought this car seat for my Mom's car for when we go to visit her. It's not as fancy looking as the Britax model in my car but I definitely prefer the seat belt mechanism which is simple to adjust and fasten. Its pretty big but my toddler rides safely and comfortably.
Pros
  • easy to adjust seat belt
  • easy to install
Cons
  • Bulky

Evenflo Triumph 65 LX Convertible Car Seat
February 14, 2013
Needed a bigger car seat to accommodate my tall granddaughter. This one should fit the bill until she switches to a booster seat. The only problem I am having is that the red release button for the straps works hard for the strap on the left side (when facing the car seat). Otherwise, I am very happy with the price and my purchase.

Nice equipment, but
January 1, 2013
The seat appears to be top notch. The problem is the fit in our car which really isn't Evenflo's problem just not a good product for our car. The seat it is in has a concave shape and the Evenflo has a convex shape. When they fit together they are as if they are molded together. The problem is the red thumb handle release for the strap tightner, you can't get to it. We had to add something to hold the seat away from the car seat at the area of the red release button so it could be used. WE have a 2012 Volkswagen Passat and this seat is not a good fit. Luckily we are the grandparents and the child only rides once a week in this seat.
Pros
  • Good quality
Cons
  • Red release button not accessible in our situation.

Evenflo Triumph 65 LX Convertible Car Seat / Baldwin
December 17, 2012
We couldn't be more pleased. Out of respect for our daughter-in-law we tried to find car seats for our car that she would approve. We checked out seats at three times the price. But she really liked the Triumph version that they have. We found Evenflo had replaced that model. When we found them at Albee Baby for less than 1/3 of the others we had looked at we ordered two- one forward facing for the older grandson, one rear facing for the younger one. It's easy to put both kids in and easy to get them out. For us old folks that's important. The quality is excellent and when we had our police department put them in for us they approved. We feel VERY satisfied that they will keep our precious grandsons safe and secure for a good long.
Pros
  • Easy to adjust the straps. Easy to get them in and out of.
Cons
  • So far, nothing

Baby seems to like it
December 11, 2012
The baby seems to like sitting in this seat much more than the infant carrier seat. The tension release mechanism can be hard to push, and the knob and release are difficult to use in the rear facing position since they are up against the back of the vehicle seat. The harness is easy to latch/unlatch (our Graco child seat is difficult to unlatch via the red button). The base is a few inches too wide.
Pros
  • Roomy, comfortable, easy to latch and unlatch, cupholder (albeit cheap and flimsy)
Cons
  • Wide base, tension release button is tough to push, tension knob and release button difficult to use in rear-facing position

Okay Seat
November 27, 2012
I like the size of this seat. It is big and I feel like my daughter can grow into it. I also like the tightening feature with the turn nobs. However, I do not like how this seat does not recline enough. We have had to put a towel under it to make it recline more so my daugther's head is not flopping foward when she falls asleep. I also bought a Britax Roundabout and it's 100% better as far as reclining and comfort for when she is sleeping. It is a smaller seat though, but it became the primary seat she sits in because of the comfort/support it provides. This Evenflo seat is good if you aren't planning on using it as your primary car seat.
Pros
  • Big
  • Soft/Cushiony
  • Tightening Mechanism
  • Shoulder Adjustment
Cons
  • Does not recline enough

Great seat for the price!
July 19, 2012
I have only been using this seat for a month so I realize my opinion could change as we use it longer. It is a great seat! It was a little confusing to switch it to rear facing but it was easy to install. You can't really change the recline position once it is in but you really shouldn't need to. The knob to loosen the straps is a little tricky in the rear facing position with our leather seats. That being said I do love the seat. It is super comfy for my son. The shoulder straps are so easy to change the height and it is so easy to tighten the straps. Despite some annoyances, I would totally recommend this seat.

LOVE the Tension Right!!!
June 21, 2012
For me, the worst part about using a rear facing infant car seat is the struggle to pull the strap to properly tighten the harness system on other car seat models. Once these types car seats are installed in the backseat, the bottom of the seat butts up against the backrest of the back seat. This leaves no room to reach and pull those tightening straps forward (or towards the trunk of the car) to tighten the harness. With the Evenflo Triumph 65 LX, I get a perfect and simple harness fitting every time! The Tension Right knobs are on both sides of the seat so you can put the baby in from the driver's side or the passenger side. I really enjoy hearing the click click click of the Tension Right system working as I tighten the harness over my very first little boy. Getting him out of the harness is so easy; just one click and a very easy (can do it with one finger) pull on the harness straps and they loosen as much as I need them to. The Tension Right system works so well, I can secure or remove my son from the seat while he remains sleeping. The size of the seat is not a big deal. We have it in an '09 Ford Fusion and even though I am overweight, I still fit comfortably next to my boy when I ride back there while daddy drives. The only thing I wish this car seat had was a higher weight rating and maybe a taller back or an adjustable head rest for tall kids. Don't get me wrong, I want to buy a 2nd Evenflo Triumph for my husband's car b/c I really dislike the Graco model we have in there (we got it at a garage sale). When we have to upgrade to a higher weight rated car seat, I will be looking at Evenflo for sure! If you're considering this car seat, go ahead and make the purchase. The Tension Right system makes securing your baby so easy, grandma or grandpa (or anyone with limited strength) can be confident they are securing baby the right and safe way with a simple click. If you can turn a knob and push buckle buttons, you can use this car seat with ease and be confident your son or daughter is secure and comfortable.
Pros
  • Tension Right knob system; shoulder strap adjustment system; head support for my sleeping baby; simple, yet sturdy and strong design of buckles; ease of car seat installation into back seat of car.
Cons
  • It doesn't have an adjustable head rest for tall kids, but by the time my son is 65lbs, he will be big enough for some type of booster.

Love This Seat!
May 4, 2012
We have 3 of these, all 3 of my children start using them between 5-9 months and as of now my oldest is 3.5yrs and he still has plenty of room to grown! They are easy to install but keep in mind they aren't meant to be taken out often as I have read in another review on a defferent website that caused them to give it 2 stars. Easily adjustable without having to take out of the vehicle, washed well in the washer and dryer and goes back together easy. My sister had the earlier model of this for 5yrs and if was great all while she had it, even after a major car accident her son was well protected.
Pros
  • Easy to adjust
  • Roomy
  • Wash friendly
  • Plenty of secure latches to attach to the car

April 23, 2012
After going with the cheaper Costco brand convertable carseat which was reviewed as being just as safe as Britax (maybe it's just as safe IF you can install it correctly, but that's almost impossible) and being very dissapointed, this car seat has been really wonderful. We bought two of them, one for each of our children (ages 1 and 2.5). They were very easy to install and both fit rear facing in our Ford Explorer, leaving plenty of room for both my husband and I to sit comfortably up front. I LOVE the strap feature that let's you adjust without undoing the straps, and they're very easy to tighten with the tightening knobs.
Pros
  • Extended rear facing, easy to instal, convenience features, comfortable

My second one!
April 22, 2012
I love this carseat! My sister had it for my niece about 10 years ago and I loved it then. Two years ago I had my first child and I knew this was the carseat I wanted. Now I just had my second and I bought it again! I love the way it tightens. It is also easy to recline when needed. Installation is pretty easy when it is front facing. To be honest, I never installed it reas facing, I had it professionally installed. Cleaning isn't too bad either.
Pros
  • Easy to tighten straps
  • Easy to install front facing
Cons
  • On the bulkier side, can only fit two in the back seat
