Everything I Expect from Britax
August 16, 2014
We originally bought 2 Britax Boulevard 70 Car Seats 3 years ago for our first child, one for each car. We now have baby #2 that needs the Boulevard and our oldest was ready to transition to a booster. The Pioneer was the logically choice for our next car seats. All of it's buckles and harnesses are very similar to the Boulevard except the release lever to loosen the straps. It was becoming a problem that our daughter had figured out how to depress the lever to loosen herself in the Boulevard. In the Pioneer the child cannot release the lever because it is reversed and is difficult to reach if sitting in the seat.
We love that Albee Baby has free shipping and has a wide array of products to choose from. After buying our Britax Boulevards 3 years ago we have continued to shop Albee Baby for our safety products. Their prices always seem to be lower than the big box baby stores. Because we are in Texas, we also don't have to pay sales tax on these purchases. When you are spending a couple hundred dollars at a time, that can be a big saver.
Pros:It has a wider seat bottom for older toddlers/preschoolers. The sides are open and have arm rests and cup holders. You can adjust the height of the seat back with one hand. No re-threading straps to adjust the height! That itself is worth the extra money.
Cons:I agree with other reviews, this seat doesn't stay tight using the seat belt installation. It really needs the LATCH system installation to get a really tight fit.
