Easy to install and use!
June 12, 2013
We love this seat for our tall 5-year-old. The Recaro Prosport seat (max 90 pounds) was way too short and tight for her, and she's only 51 pounds! The Britax Frontier seat has more room and it's a lot easier to operate on a daily basis.

Third time is the charm!
April 8, 2013
We had to buy a third one of these to replace the one in my car after an accident. We love that our 48 inch tall 4 year old can still remain comfortable, even in long car trips. Albee baby shipped it out asap and he wasn't forced to be in an unsafe carseat at all.

At first I did not want to buy a seat I could not see or put into my car first but I am so glad I did. My son LOVES this seat and I love that it is so secure. I feel better knowing my son is as safe as possible in this seat!

Our boy loves it!
March 14, 2013
We bought this seat for our 2 year old after needing an additional seat for his babysitter. This seat went into my husbands 1964 Ford F100 which is a very small single cab with a bench seat that seats 3. I am still able to ride in the middle section of the bench seat with no problems. The cup holders are a huge hit with our son, his big boy seat!!
Pros
  • cup holders

Good booster, but not as great as the Britax convertible car seats
February 20, 2013
Safety wise, I think this is a great car seat. My daughter is also very comfortable sitting in it and I know we'll use it for a long time.My gripes with it are more of convenience features. I wasn't able to install the booster using LATCH in our Honda Accord because I couldn't get the straps tight enough. I never had that problem with the Britax convertible car seat. The LATCH mechanism is the same as the convertible car seats (the click in, not the hook you need to push to remove like other brands), but each side does not have its own straps to pull them tight. It is one strap that goes through the seat belt path and you have to pull tight that way. It is harder to get a good fit. Also, my daughter had an accident in the booster and we had to remove the entire seat to clean it up, not just the cover like I could on the convertibles.I feel it is sturdy and safe, which is the most important thing, but I am not as excited about it as I am the Britax convertible car seats. I won't be getting rid of our convertible until it is absolutely necessary in our other car.
Pros
  • Safety
  • Comfort
Cons
  • Installation not as easy as convertibles
  • Had to remove entire seat to clean cover

Another great car seat from Britax
January 7, 2013
Bought this for my 2.5 year old who was in a marathon. My little girl got the marathon & he graduated to this Frontier. He's average size & fit very well. No complaints. I love the fabric... very user friendly. It also seems like it takes up less space in the car than the convertibles.

Frontier 85 vs. Diono Radian
January 4, 2013
My son outgrew his Britax Decathlon convertible carseat when he recently turned 5 (43 inches tall, 48 lbs). I had heard many good things about the Diono Radian convertible/high back booster and after comparing the Radian to the Britax Frontier 85, which seemed very similarly rated, decided to take a chance on the Radian. I got it, installed it in my car, used it for a few weeks and decided that I didn't like it as much as my son's old Decathlon. Yes, the Radian is very slim, yes, it can collapse and be carried with backpack straps or fit nicely into a travel bag for checking as luggage when traveling on an airplane, but for every day usage, I didn't like the movement of the buckles and straps - it is tough to pull snug and you pull down instead of up on the pull strap (whereas you pull upward on the Britax Decathlon & Marathon - easier on my back). And when we traveled with it, it was insanely heavy - about 25 lbs. Technically portable, but not practically portable from car to gate through an airport terminal. I'd take the old bulky and odd shaped yet lighter Decathlon over that any day. So, the Radian got banished to my husband car to be used mostly on weekends and I bought a Britax Frontier 85 for my car, which my son rides in everyday. I am so much happier using the Britax, but I think it is because I am used to doing things the "Britax" way.The Britax Frontier 85 is the next age level up from the Decathlon. I like the way Britax designs their harnesses and buckles, the hugs chest straps, etc... My son squirms too much to be safe in just a high back booster so I want him to remain in a 5 point harness for a while longer. When he is older (and less squirmy) we will switch to using it as a high back booster. I've seen the quality of Britax first hand and know that this carseat/booster will last in good condition until it expires in 5 years. Oh, and I've had good experiences with Britax customer sevice in Charlotte, NC, when I needed more Hugs chest pads for my daughter's Marathon.
Pros
  • Straps, harnesses, buckles are easy for me to use.
  • lighter weight than Diono Radian.
  • Neutral colors and fun colors available.
  • Britax quality.
  • Britax customer service.
Cons
  • Expensive but the quality is worth the price.

We purchased this booster based on safety ratings we have read online. My daughter loves this booster. It sits lower than her carseat and she has more room for added comfort. She also loves the cup holders. My husband installed this in less than 5 minutes and said it was easy.

Once again, Britax is the best!!!
October 22, 2012
I bought the Britax Frontier 85 a few months ago and LOVE IT!!! Easy to install and very comfortable for my 3 year old son. I upgraded from my Britax Advocate because my one year old daughter needed it. The straps don't twist and I love the extra rubbery pieces on each strap to help ensure that twisting is impossible. I will never buy any other brand of carseat. Britax is worth every single dollar and albeebaby is the only place to go! Free shipping and best price. I've bought three carseats from them and no one beats their price and quick delivery

Great Carseat so far
October 11, 2012
This has been a great car seat so far. I have a very tall, skinny 3 year old that is very comfortable in it and LOVES the cup holders. The only negative I've notice is that he doesn't seem to be as comfortable when he falls asleep in it. His head seems to just hang. But on the other hand it doesn't seem to bother him, just me. Install is a little harder than our other britax carseat. You have to really sit on it and wiggle it around to get it tight using the latch system.
Pros
  • Looks good
  • 3 year old is comfy in it
  • Last car seat we will have to buy
Cons
  • Looks uncomfortable when he falls asleep, head dangles
  • Easy to install but hard to fasten it tight enough using the latch system.

The price is great and is a great upgrade for larger toddlers. Our son is 2 but is the average size of a 3 year old making this seat perfect for him. He is over 40lbs and we were not ready to put him in a booster, he loves his new seat. Plenty of room and the cupholder inserts come out for washing. Will probably buy another one when our daughter grows out of her current seat.
Pros
  • Everything
Cons
  • The armrest sometimes gets in the way when putting him in the car.

Wonderful car seat!!
August 4, 2012
We have had a number of Britax and Recarro seats, but one of our kids was outgrowing all our convertible seats. After quite a bit of research we went with the frotnier 85. We absolutely love it . We had to move across the country, and our child was so comfortable and never complained once about the seat. And the cup holds and armrests are great. So sturdy and safe while comfortable and easy to clean . As always got the best price from Albee Baby,
Pros
  • Safety
  • Comfort
  • Easy to clean
  • Installs perfectly
Cons
  • Heavy, but that's why it's safe!

Nice Upright Choice for Little Poeple!
July 25, 2012
This works very well, very adjustable. upright, so you can move your seat back fully, and nice cupholders for your kids to have a drink for long trips. Fabric seems durable, and decent to clean without lots of "knooks & Crannies" for crumbs to get trapped in. I will by another one when our other little boy gets to be 24 months old.
Pros
  • Durable, upright, function
Cons
  • Cost-but applies to all quality car seats

June 24, 2012
This seat is great! We loved it so much we got another for a second vehicle. It has enough room for my son to not feel uncomfortable but still have a 5 point harness. After purchasing a few car seats from babies r us that my son 4 1/2 years old would find uncomfortable this is perfect.I found that most seat we tried didn't have the crotch room for him and not made very well. This is perfect and the price at albee baby is the lowest around!
Pros
  • 5 point harness, roomy, cup holders, simple

Ok so far.
April 15, 2012
I bought two of these for my 2.5 year old. I had him in a Britax Marathon and loved it which is why I chose the Frontier. Compared to the Marathon, they changed the straps so you don't have to rethread them to adjust the height. Because of that feature, I am finding the straps don't always tighten evenly when I need to adjust for coats, etc. I am also finding the crotch strap, twists around easily and is hard to get ahold of once he is in the seat. It naturally falls toward the back of the seat and it is so long that he sits on it making it really hard to find. That being said, my son says he really likes the cup holders and he has told me it is comfortable. I like how it was easy to install and how sturdy it feels..
Pros
  • Safe, Feels sturdy, son says it is comfortable, cup holders, easy to install.
Cons
  • Straps don't adjust evenly, hard to get ahold of crotch strap.

April 15, 2012
This is a nice seat and my son is stoked to be in a bigger boy seat. It is difficult to get it to mount solidly in my '01 540i since it doesn't have latch, but that is my only complaint, but have not had any seat that was great in this area. Albee has the best price.
Pros
  • Great Britax quality
Cons
  • Difficult to mount in car without latch system

The Best!
April 3, 2012
Purchased this Frontier for my other son, so now we have one for each boy (ages 4 and 7). Easy install and LOVE that the cup holders are built in rather than the fold down ones (like on our older model). He loves his new "big boy" seat and I love that as he grows he can remain in the 5 point harness! The seat can also be used with the regular seatbelt once the 5 point harness is outgrown and I really like that the latch system keeps the seat firmly in place at this stage. Albee Baby has the best price out there on this one! IF you are on the fence don't be. This is hands down a great seat at a great price!

great seat but it's big
March 22, 2012
I purchased both this and the SICT because of the size. In our car with captain seats, I can afford to use the SICT but in our small SUV, the regular Frontier already takes up a lot of space. It's a very easy install and comfortable ride however. We have a much cheaper combo seat for grandma's house a few states away and you can definitely tell the difference in comfort, quality, and installation ease. The cupholders are a nice addition too.
Pros
  • install, comfort, cupholders
Cons
  • size

Britax Frontier is my favorite car seat
March 17, 2012
This is our 4th Britax purchase. We love all of our Britax seats. This one is my favorite because it lasts longer. I chose to get this one over the newer version of the Frontier because it is not as bulky -- still very safe. My kids love the cup holders. My 5 year old buckles himself. I like the audible click sound.
Pros
  • expires in 9 years?
  • audible click
  • easy to install
  • easy to buckle
  • high weight limit in 5 point harness
Cons
  • the padding is not very thick where his bottom sits

  • I like the fabric on the seat, easy to clean.
  • Love that it grows with my child

Very Sturdy and Heavy Seat!
March 5, 2012
This is exactly what I was looking for, something with a harness that would protect them from flying out of the seat, one solid piece, it is not a flimzy seat at all! But, it is very, very heavy. It is the heaviest seat I have ever lifted. This is not something you want to keep transfering from one car to another. However, the weight and height limits are the best I've seen and this will be the last car/booster seat I will ever need to buy again! You will not regret purchasing this.
Pros
  • Everything!
Cons
  • It's very heavy! But, to hold a 120 lb. person it would need to be.

My second Frontier 85
February 27, 2012
I have the Britax Boulevard and a Frontier 85 already. This time I was looking for one more seat for the second car. Initially I got the Evenflo Symphony 65 e3. Comparing the two, I like the Frontier's lower seating, has built in cup holder, better harness belts, and safer anchor on the back. It is not a convertible for infants, but it's not important to me this time. The Symphony has better spring loaded latches on the bottom, which I wish could be on the Frontier. It also allows harness belt's shoulder height adjustment from the front. The Frontier requires dismounting the seat. The Symphony is also heavier by a few pounds, seats a few inches higher, and its harness requires two hands to unbuckle. I didn't like these characteristics.
Pros
  • Lighter, Tangle free harness belts with one hand unbuckle operation, Seats lower, Built in cup holder
Cons
  • Spring loaded latch for the seat anchor would be convenient. Shoulder belt height adjustment requires dismounting the seat.

Great extended harnessing for child ready to face forward (at least 2 years old)
January 25, 2012
Our 4.5 year old LOVES this seat. It was the next best thing after he got too tall for his Britax Boulevard. It fits nicely in between our baby's Chicco Keyfit 30 car seat and our 13 year old son in our Tahoe.
Pros
  • extended harnessing
  • easy adjusting harness height
  • adjusting lap belt
  • head rests
  • material
  • cup holders
  • discounted price
Cons
  • would be nice if it extended rear faced

Best choice
January 23, 2012
I spent a lot of time researching boosters and came back to my old reliable brand- Britax. The quality is so much better than the cheaper brands. It is very safe, easy to use, and practical. Right now my 5 1/2 year old is in it with the 5 point harness, but I like that we can remove the straps, raise the headrest, and eventually remove the back. She likes that it is comfortable and doesn't look like a baby seat. I can't believe I have friends who put their 5 year olds in backless boosters when there are seats like this on the market. If you can't spend the money on this seat, at least get your child the one you can afford that offers the most protection. I'd give it 5 stars except for the price and that the straps twist when my daughter buckles herself. I think that's a product of the long length of "big kid" straps. They are simple to untwist, and the sale price at Albee Baby is the best.
Pros
  • Easy to install
  • Very safe
  • Comfortable
  • Attractive
  • Will last for a long time
Cons
  • Straps twist

Cons
  • top buckle is a little hard to unsnap

My daughter loves it, easy to install
January 13, 2012
It was a cinch to install into out 2003 Toyota Corolla and my daughter is happy to have cup holders. The only complaint has been that the crotch area was too tight...we have it on the furthest away setting now. I hope it lasts for her - she is 3 years, roughly 36 pounds. I love that she can be harnessed up to 85 lbs - especially since in CA the new law passed to keep kids in boosters up to age 8 years. My plan is to keep her harnessed and then switch to the belt in the booster when she grows out of it so that she feels she isn't a baby in it anymore when she is older. The color is fantastic - I would definitely recommend this to a friend.
Pros
  • Easy to install
  • Comfortable
  • Cup holders
  • Five point harness up to 85 pounds
  • Booster up to 120
Cons
  • Crotch a bit tight

The Best for My Grandson
December 17, 2011
I purchased the Britax Frontier 85 Booster Car Seat for my Grandson for two reasons. Britax carseats are the best and that's all my daughter would let me get. She wanted nothing but the best and after doing serious research and checking reviews, she said Britax was the one. Actually this is his second Britax since he outgrew the smaller carseat. She loves the 5 point harness system, it provides comfort if my grandson falls to sleep, and the cup holder is great for him to have a drink that he can reach. It takes some doing to get the seat in your car, but once you have it installed properly, you know your child is safe and that is what it's all about - Safety!
Pros
  • Overall Safety
  • 5 Point Harness System
  • Comfort
  • Ease of use getting child in and out
  • Cup Holder
Cons
  • Expensive

Amazing carseat!
April 28, 2011
We have had all Britax seats including the Regent. We recently got rid of our Regent because it was too wide and bulky with the exterior bar on the back. We replaced it with this seat which is 2 inches smaller on the width and doesn't have the bulky bar on the back leaving our 5 year old with more leg room. He loves his new "big kid looking" seat with the cup holders. I like that you can actually hear the buckles click into place. I read reviews about the mesh material catching on things and tearing but you won't have that problem with the Onyx color since it does not have any mesh material on it. We love this seat so much that we're buying another one for our other car.
Pros
  • cup holders
  • Size
  • Fabric
  • Clicking buckle
Cons
  • Nothing

Read Manual to Install
November 18, 2010
I have had this seat for over a month now and we love it. My son had an Alpha Omega Elite seat and we upgraded to this one to keep him harnessed longer. It has so much more space and he can sleep more comfortably in this seat too. The cup holders are awesome because they don't fall off the seat and all of our sippy cups fit just fine into them, it's nice that there's two because you can put snacks in the other or my son likes to keep his thomas trains in there while he gets himself into the buckles :) There are a lot of other reviews on other sites about people not getting the seat tight enough, but if you look in the manual you will see that you have to pull the LATCH strap through the seat cover and then you can tuck it back in when the seat is tight. It gets tight enough to not budge so read the manual!!
Pros
  • Roomy, Cup holders, Easy Adjustable Straps, SAFE
Cons
  • Heavier than most seats, a bit bulky
