Best double stroller that acts like a single.
February 5, 2014
I have a two-year-old daughter and a 5-month-old son. With my oldest, we got the Uppababy Vista and loved it, until #2 came along and the second seat just didn't do enough for us. Three things ultimately came down to us making the switch from the Vista to City Select:
1. I love that the City Select has two identical seats that are interchangeable. Both seats fully recline, unlike the Vista, and have a great sunshade, which is crucial when you want your little ones to nap on the go. At home, that's not as big of a deal since we're usually home for naps, but when we travel it's really nice to be able to recline both seats and let them fall asleep while we walk.
2. The seats have so many different configurations. My daughter likes to look out, so in the Vista (the second seat only faces back), she would turn around and sit on her knees so she could look out. Now, she can face forward safely in her seat.
3. Since both seats are identical, you don't have to put the older child in front. We've found it works best for us to have the baby fully reclined in the front facing back with big sis sitting up, facing forward in the seat closest to us. This is nice because the heaviest weight isn't furthest from the steering. That situation made the Vista really hard to push and almost impossible to get over curbs.
Pushing the City Select with two is very smooth and easy. It's really easy to maneuver and surprisingly narrow, making it really nice for walking in a city when you are in and out of shops that may not be stroller friendly. It is kinda long, especially when the front seat is reclined, but it's much better than most double strollers. My only complaints are that the handle doesn't come out quite as far as the Vista's so my husband ends up kicking the back of the stroller more because he is pretty tall. The other thing is that the seats are slightly smaller than the main seat on the Vista, but they compensate by making the position of the sun canopy adjustable so my tall daughter still fits well. Overall, we are very pleased with the City Select.
