BEST stroller for THE CITY...i.e. New York City!!!
February 20, 2014
I have had this stroller for 3 years now and I just had to come and write a review since as a new parent, I remember how useful all of the reviews were for me in making our decisions about which of the bizillion baby products/gadgets/etc. would work best for us. In retrospect, this was one of the best purchases we made in preparation for being City parents. I'm a born & raised NYer and my mom STILL has the sturdy umbrella stroller she used for all 4 of her kids starting 42 years ago! Strollers have gotten SO huge...so heavy...so expensive, I honestly had NO idea. I couldn't believe the prices these things are going for these days! We toyed with the idea of a Britax with a 'reversible' seat because I really do believe on bonding with the child and giving the comfort of seeing the parent amidst being pushed around so many stimuli... and so we also looked at the Stokke, the Bugaboo series, etc. But then the blood flow came back to my head and I just couldn't justify paying more for a stroller than I paid for my first motorcycle! We saw someone with the City Mini on the subway, liked the look & asked them about it and they raved. So after much research & finding a deal we were fully happy to pay the $170 for it. I must say, it was completely worth it and we're looking forward to see good use out of it for the second ( & third & more...) children in the future. I don't know if these strollers will last 40 years, but the benefits now are numerous. 1) When our daughter was an infant until she was 13 months, we used the frame, without the fabric as the base & stroller for the car seat. She was facing us, it felt very sturdy & protective and I immediately noticed that the stroller was 'thinner' than the 'SUV brands' about because I could go down any tiny bodega shopping isle and the wheels allowed me to maneuver easily through small spaces. I carried her in am Ergo most of the 1st year anyway, but when we needed the stroller it was great. We live between Brooklyn and Rome, Italy and I couldn't have predicted how convenient those wheels would be on the cobblestobnes! ( I saw a 'fancy' stroller topple over w baby inside on the cobblestone streets! NOT with the stable Citi Mini!). 2) The stroller is perfect for local neighborhood shopping, errands, etc. with a very large and easy to load 'basket' on the bottom. the stroller has a good 'center' so can be loaded up quite a bit and still not fall back with your baby in it just because you let go of the handles. 3) even if it doesn't have an extendable foot rest my daughter always has and still can take a really good nap in this stroller. The fact that it reclines all the way back is great and when she was small & we were traveling a bit, with some blankets, she's even slept the night in the stroller. 4) Now that she's older, my daughter can climb in and out by herself and with the front bar, for neighborhood runs, doesn't need to be strapped in and she's still secure wioth the depth of the seat & the front bar. Let's be real, its a lightweight stroller in comparison to what's out there, but it is NOT light. My mother refused to take my daughter on the subway with it so we did end up getting a jazzy umbrella stroller that we use for inter-borough traveling and now for international traveling, mainly because the cars are smaller in Europe and the Citi Mini is still too big for a standard EU trunk! BUT, This is my Brooklyn Stroller and I am writing this review today after 2 months + of steady blizzards and rain and snow freezing rain over snow over layers of ice over snow.... and I must say I have been THOROUGHLY impressed by this stroller. When Its Icy, it had a grip and when its snowy-slushy, it cuts through it like hot water. Without this stroller I would have spent unnecessary money on cabs to school because its just a 15 min walk but the weather has been treacherous and it has truly been a life saver. There were school-runs where I would see moms struggling block after block to carry their child over and through the snow. I did not see ANY other strollers out in these weeks besides a few Citi Minis and one Phil & Teds jogger. ( no cute Bugaboos, No Stokkes...no strollers were out for DAYS). Not only is my daughter super protected and cozy even without the rain cover ( the canopy is amazing) but she just holds onto the front bar and loves the 'bumpy bumpy' ride over mounds of ice/snow/slush. The guys in my neighborhood have taken to say "Oh, here she comes! She knows how to drive that thing!" and I even received applause from stranded pedestrians after maneuvering through a tricky snow-blocked mound! And if you do need to lift it over a huge puddle for example, it is not that heavy that its a struggle... Whether its unpaved streets, potholes, a walk through the muddy park or an actual run in the park, this stroller is GREAT. We have done absolutely no maintenance to it in 3 years and it could probably use some oil as the steering can be quite tight at times, but my daughter walks a lot and we really only use it for Brooklyn school runs & grocery shopping/ farmer's market trips so I consider it a great investment. You may need to get a companion umbrella stroller if you travel internationally/ move between boroughs like we do ( we went w the Uppababy G-Luxe) but still, with sales, we spent $300 on BOTH strollers and couldn't be happier. Quality doesn't always mean a high price and I'm happy to say that over time, the lesson, from a native NYer is stay practical, functional and high-functioning in your baby-gear choices... who cares how 'chic' and expensive the stroller looks? Save the money for outfitting your kid in cute and 'chic' clothes...they are the REAL accessory after all ... or better yet....for that private pre-school they're on the waiting list for! Enjoy!

Baby Jogger City Mini
January 5, 2014
I bought the Baby Jogger City Mini to use when I watch my granddaughter, it is very easy to fold with one hand, and folds very compact to store in my car, it is very light weight, extremely light to push, sun visor covers most of the baby, so I don't have to worry about sun burn while I am walking her, and has 2 viewing clear panels to check on baby. Large storage compartment under stroller for shopping expeditions. I have tried other more expensive strollers and they cannot be compared to this one! I highly recommend it. LOVE THIS STROLLER!!! Safta
Pros:
Ease of folding, storing , easy to push
Cons:
No tray for baby, or cup holder, but can be ordered.
Best Uses:
Going for walks with baby, shopping at the mall, traveling

Great, Lightweight Stroller
November 19, 2014
Before our daughter was born, I spent a lot of time debating which stroller to get. I wanted one all-around stroller that I could use when we go hiking or on the beach, but also in the grocery stores and malls. Unfortunately, most strollers don't have absolutely everything you could want and many people wind up having several as a result. I originally narrowed my choices down to a Bob Revolution SE, City Mini, and City Mini GT. I wound up ruling out the GT because for its purpose- a true jogging/adventure stroller- the winner was Bob. The only problem I worried about with the Bob was how large it was for everyday use and travel. However, a few friends of mine use it as their primary (or only) stroller and they raved about it. So, I started with the Bob and haven't been at all disappointed. Yes, it's a great stroller and will last for years. The only thing is that with a car seat, it just seems like such a gigantic item to take places. It's heavy and takes up a lot of space even in the back of my pilot, so I tended not to take it to quick shopping trips. I started realizing that I needed a lightweight stroller as an option when the Bob was just too much. So, I went back to the City Mini and finally ordered one. I love this stroller! All of a sudden, I was taking a stroller every time I went to the store or even to get coffee- even just a quick trip where I would normally either carry the car seat or wear my child. It's so light and easy to travel with- I now look for excuses to go to the store. Now, this isn't my stroller of choice for the beach or even a walk around the block- it has okay tires, but they aren't forgiving like the air-filled ones on the Bob (and there are no shocks), which makes for a bumpy ride- but this is a great stroller. I still consider my Bob as the primary stroller and I'll use it in more situations once the baby can go in without a car seat. However, in the meantime, I now have a great alternative stroller to use especially in tight areas or when I don't think I'll need much storage space (keep in mind you can't hang bags from the City Mini's handlebar). I'll have to wait to see how comfortable the baby thinks it is as she transitions from the car seat. You can use this stroller from birth if you want if you lay the back completely flat, but I'm not anxious to try that just yet. (City Mini is recommended from 6 months on without a car seat if you don't have the seat flat; surprisingly, I read that Bob can be used from 8 weeks on if the child has good head control, though I'm not sure how many 2 month olds have good head control). Just a word about the under-the-seat-storage, which has come up on a few sites' reviews. I don't have any problem with this at all. The curved bar makes it easy to put stuff in/pull stuff out, though you can also do this from the stretchy sides of the basket. However, it's not especially spacious. You won't fit a lot of items below. If I'm getting more than a couple items, I'll take a grocery basket at the store even with this stroller. You cannot hang bags from the handle, so you're kind of limited in terms of storage space. I have seen these mesh side bags on Amazon that you can buy to fit on any stroller and that may be a good alternative to give you a little more storage if that's a major concern. I had originally wanted only one stroller not only because of storage, but money. I didn't want to spend a lot on a stroller that only did so much- which is why I spent so much time looking for the do-it-all-stroller. Unfortunately, there seems to not be anything like this- you have to make some sacrifices one way or the other. With the Bob, I sacrificed weight and size. The City Mini (regular or GT) is not a jogging stroller. I did manage to get a great deal on the Bob (at the time) with free shipping and a coupon, so I felt that I at least saved something. And I bought the City Mini on clearance- this 2013 version in green was $159 here ($250 elsewhere) with free shipping. One of my gripes about both strollers is that neither comes with any accessories. I think for the typical price, they should have something- the tray would be nice at least. I had to buy car seat adapters for both strollers (I have a Britax B Safe). I got the Bob's for $44 (with coupon and free shipping) and the City Mini for $20 (Amazon and free shipping). I could have gotten a Britax B Agile stroller (comparable to the City Mini) to avoid the adapter, but I found that the City Mini quality was just so much better. If I'm going to spend money on one or more strollers, they better stand up to the abuse I suspect my child will give to this equipment. One thing of note, though, about the ease of closing the stroller: Yes, you can do this one-handed. However, the instructions say to close these red, safety straps that snap to the stroller frame and never use the stroller without them in place. Well, if you do this, you have to unsnap them every time you want to close the stroller (it won't fold with these attached). I guess people are not using them? (It prevents the stroller from accidentally folding- but it seems hard for that to happen, so use your best judgment). The other issue is that I still find it a little awkward to open with one hand. It can be done, but you do have to bend over a bit and with a kid in hand, it's not quite as simple as it is to close it. No big deal, but I just wanted to mention it. I suggest you go to your local store and give it a try.
Pros:
Quality material- you can just feel it's better than many other brands with comparable strollers. It's easy to use one-handed especially on smooth areas/floors. It's so easy to adjust the harness and back. It offers a mesh area in the back of the stroller that is exposed when the stroller back is down. This allows a nice breeze to come through when your kid is in there- something that's important if you take a stroller out in major heat. They get so hot so fast, so this is a great option. The color choices are great. The product, itself, is easy to transport, light, easy to fold, pretty easy to open.
Cons:
Like many of the nicer strollers, it lacks accessories. Everything has to be purchased separately. Also, it's not the greatest on terrain other than smooth or paved areas/floors. It's tough on grass, sand, gravel. I don't use this for walks around the block (our neighborhood has gravel and tar roads- not the smooth pavement, so it's pretty bumpy). Cost can be an issue, but I got mine on clearance with free shipping, so I can't complain too much.
Best Uses:
This stroller is ideal for grocery store trips, mall trips, quick errands, etc. I would think this would make a great stroller to take to a parade- the kind of stroller that can go just about everywhere that's paved or smooth. I don't know about long shopping trips because the storage below the seat isn't huge and you can't hang bags on the handle bar.

Cons:
Basket is not easily accessible, cannot fit diaper bag in it. Stroller tips easily.
Best Uses:
Good for traveling. Folds up easily and quickly, easy to carry. Good on public transportation. Best for toddlers or older infants.

Pros:

This is a really great stroller. So glad I purchased it. It folds down easily and leaves a small Footprint compared to the stroller I used to have. Very roomy for my toddler. One of my favorite parts is the sunshade. It had spectacular coverage. The underneath storage basket is spacious enough to meet our needs. Nice ride, easy to push. I don't have anything negative to say. This will also be great for travel. Love the color options. I also purchased the tray and that works great and was super easy to attach and detach.

The Best Travel Stroller
March 26, 2014
I am a new mother-first child. I already have one stroller, a Bugaboo Donkey, which I love! However, the donkey is not practical for traveling distances. It is not very compact when folded and it is extremely heavy. So I use it mostly for long walks. But I need to go farther, sometimes--use the subway, etc. The City Mini is the best for travel. First of all, it is beautiful!! Very eye-catching stroller. It is light--I can lift it in one hand. It folds so easily with one swift pull up of the handle in the center of the seat. My son,who is 7 months, loves it. The seat is very comfortable. I would recommend it to any mother.

At this point I have no complaints it is just what I needed easy to use with my 2 year old fits in my trunk nicely it's everything I wanted in a stroller. Definitely worth the money to buy the front page for cups and snack area it helps keep her items where she needs them.

Lightweight and easy to maneuver
January 25, 2014
The stroller was true to color (sand/stone). Very lightweight (great for traveling), easy to assemble, very easy to fold and easy to roll around and maneuver. Can't wait to start using it when baby arrives. My cousin has one as well and absolutely loves it ... hence the reason I purchased the city mini.

Fantastic for tall Toddlers!
January 1, 2014
Absolutely fantastic! My dd is on the 110% for height @ 2, this stroller is a breeze with her in it. The straps actually FIT! Weve been trough Chicco strollers, Contours, Jeeps, Gracos etc. This is actually a stroller that has more than enuff head room for my tall toddler. The one hand fold is true to its word! Our first test she climbed in amd fell asleep ;)
Pros:
High seat height
Cons:
None
Best Uses:
Toddlers, babies, shopping

Great lightweight stroller!
December 25, 2013
This is a great stroller - it's pretty lightweight, incredibly easy to fold and very easy to maneuver. We rented this stroller for a trip to Disney and loved it - we could easily move through crowds, fold it quickly when needed and it was comfortable for my average-sized four year old. After using it at Disney, we decided to buy one for our next baby. With the car seat adaptor, you can make this a very user -friendly travel system.

Overall great stroller
August 27, 2013
It was easy to put together. My son seems comfortable in it. I love the one hand close! Super easy to use. We added the parent console which is a must for us. The basket underneath is small and will not fit my diaper bag. it fits my purse (not easily), but I knew that going into it. If they could make it bigger it would be perfect! it is easy to push with one hand. Overall , so far , I love it.
Pros:
Recline Easy to push One hand fold Big canopy
Cons:
Small basket
Best Uses:
Mall Outings

Best stroller ever owned
August 25, 2013
The Baby Jogger City Mini is my dream stroller. The one hand folding system is amazing, even my husband is very impressed with this feature. The stroller is very easy to maneuver and perfect size to use everywhere including packed stores. I love the canopy because it covers my baby girl from Texas UV ray very well. Above all, this stroller is so comfortable that it's pleasing to see how cozy my daughter in it. The fully flat back is A+++. Highly recommended stroller!!

Great stroller
March 15, 2013
Can't complain--the stroller is very sturdy, it collapses easily, and my baby loves it. We also considered the City Mini GT, but decided it was just too heavy, and the Maclaren Quest, which I nixed because I found it oddly difficult to collapse.
Pros:
Collapses easily Comes in great colors Baby likes it

Expensive but worth the ride
February 4, 2013
After comparing several brand and models of strollers, of which I intend to buy one for my daughters new baby, I found than none are "cheap" and this one isn't any exception. However, if the adage that; "you get what you pay for" means anything, then this brand and model will be well worth it. Time will tell, but it appears to be very well constructed, easy to push, and should last the two years it will be needed. Considering that it will be used for 30 minutes a day for 200 days a year, then at the end of two years it will have cost a mere $1.25 per hour. 30 minutes per day X 200 days/year, times 2 years = 12,000 minutes, divided by 60 minutes per hour = 200 hours. $249 divided by 200 hours = $1.25 per hour. Furthermore, at 3 miles per hour (about average stroller speed for this particular mom) at 200 hours = 600 miles which comes to about $0.42 per mile. Not so bad when you consider that you never have to have the oil changed or have the tires rotated!
Pros:
Don't have to buy insurance, pay for oil changes or have tires rotated.
Cons:
My daughter liking it so much that she decides to have another kid and double the savings!
